It appears to be a 50 degree coupler!
Yes, it is possible. I planned to weld it on at first, but I didn't have a powerful enough welding machine, so I drilled six quarter-inch holes, two on each side and two on the top. The coupler isn't moving after I bought six quarter-inch by inch-and-a-half stainless bolts, flat washers, lock washers, and nuts. I frequently use my trailer and have no concerns about it breaking down.
Yes, the bolt holes are threaded, and standard 3/8in bolts are required. Bolts are about 1 inch long. I put lock washers and nuts on them anyway, so it wasn't a big deal.
Mine arrived painted black; I'm not sure if you can order them unpainted, but I doubt it.

I apologize for the ironic title. My welding friend removed the old one with a grinder and installed the new one in less than an hour with a stick welder. It appears to be of excellent quality, with a great price. I've used other Curt towing products before and have been very pleased with them.
My only gripe is that the sticker that covers almost the entire hitch is glued on with super strong glue. You are not going to scrape the sticker off. Chemicals or sanding and repainting will be required.
It was necessary to weld off the okd tongue. I then tapped four holes, two in each size, and secured it with hardened hardware and lock washers. I added two more bolts from the top, which I inserted into predrilled holes. To finish the installation, I moved the tongue jack. I cleaned up the mess and put the tools back in their proper places. Did I mention that I did this while the trailblazer was on the trail?.
I removed my old hitch and welded this one to the trailer's A frame with the help of a professional welder. The hitch works well and can be locked, which is a feature I was looking for.
I had assumed the manufacturer's products were made in the United States. I made a huge mistake. Curt is based in China and manufactures their goods there. It should have a logo that says "Made in China. ".
It's a bit of a pain to set up, but it works.
