As it turns out, these couplers are made in China, which is why I didn't do my homework. I am so disappointed. Rather than welding it, I will use bolts to attach it, so when it stops working I can replace it easily. It's a shame that the older bulldogs have left us. Since the metal is made in China, I would not use this on anything of value, since it would have many consequences if the metal failed.
