There is a marked difference between customer service and this. I installed this wiring kit in a Dodge Grand Caravan, which took about one hour. From start to finish, it takes 5 hours. One of the tail lights wasn't working, but everything else worked. A connection was found to be faulty with one of the supplied T-connectors There was an issue with the male plug of the connection, because the pin which should have powered the tail light was missing. I don't see a problem at all -- Fortunately, I can just contact Reese and get a replacement plug shipped to me, then splice it in and a fix will be found. I finally asked a "customer service" representative to help me (note sarcasm). He announced he worked for another company (not Reese) but finally unveiled that Reese was one of the brands He told me I needed to bring a copy of my proof of purchase after I explained my problem It was repeated four or five more times by him during the call. My shipping confirmation from Amazon wasn't enough to convince her I had just received the wiring kit. In order to replace the defective plug, I requested he send me a new He replied that he would never do such a thing. They would send me a new wiring kit so I could install it. I would remove the entire wiring kit from the van, send it back to them, and then they would send me a new wiring kit It will take a few weeks to replace the devices plus the batteries. The kit needs to be removed and then reinstalled, but I will not waste time on that The installation of another one is being performed. This means that I have to wait for five hours. Despite my best efforts, I'm not pleased with myself. This was my first experience with Reese's support and I wouldn't want to go through it again. I have used several Reese products in the past and they have been fine but not my first experience with their product support. As a matter of fact, I shouldn't have had to, but I still fixed the problem my way and it now works.
Having tried this product, I rate it a two Our 5-star review was based on the fact that it was really easy to install and if it had worked, it would have been perfect for us. The vehicle I will be using to haul our tent camper is a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. My partner installed the product, and we had no lighting on the trailer after I connected it to the I was able to connect my trailer with my Ford Ranger and verify that it works. It has been over a week since I sent in a return request, installed the replacement product, and I still haven't received results, even after reconfirming My next purchase will be a new brand of product and I hope that works just as well.
Installation of the tail lights and hitch was very straightforward. We did this install on a driveway at an apartment complex without a lift, as is common with most installations. For the most part they are routed along the brake lines. I'm not a fan of an 'always on' battery for a number of reasons. It is my hope that the current draw is minimal when the vehicle is It appears that all outputs work as soon as they are called for, pending the trailer hook up at a later date.
The cable ties they sent were exactly what was needed for the project. One complaint I have is that the wire for running under the vehicle from the battery to the taillight unit is a different gauge than the taillight unit itself, so I had to use the weatherproof crimp connectors I had on hand. The pin trailer wiring diagram is as follows spent here) to put on a pair of rubber gloves and wipe some silicone all over the crimp connector and the ground points of the unit. From start to finish, I spent about two hours on the project.
This one was very well sealed against moisture intrusion. It is well built and easy to install, and it is unlikely that you will have any problems using it. During the lifetime of my Curt, it lasted less than three years before shorting out one light and then the rest. I could see where the moisture got into the building. Reese's new taillight housing is so much smaller that it fits right above the light sockets above the taillight housing. It is much better sealed against moisture and is smaller. Compared to the previous Curt model, it seemed to be much easier to install.
My 2016 Chrysler Town & Country has been fitted with this system. What an awesome thing this is. It was a breeze to install. Running the 12 volt lead from the battery was the hardest part, other than that, everything else was plug and play. like the fact that this kit doesn't require you to cut any wires when installing it. The instructions were very informative and guided you step by step. They even advised you on mounting points to use. To do this, I combined it with.
Without any splicing or headaches, the installation was successful. This allows for the wiring to not be exposed to the elements and for the socket to be hidden when not in use. I also took a few extra minutes to feed it into the compressor compartment on the drivers' side and under the plastic trim on the passenger's side.
I have only used it a few times, but so far it is working well. I have updated A problem has been identified with the unit. A directional problem on the driver's side has been reported.
