It will work, but you will need to connect it to your truck with a pigtail. A standard connector is included in the controller. You can order a standard pigtail or a custom pigtail for your truck. This is what I use for a 4000 lb trailer, and it works great. It's not proportional, and it's not the best for slower speeds, but it's still a good deal.
Yes, this should be able to connect directly to your wiring harness.
It will work, but you will need to connect it with a Ford plug. It comes with bare wires and will require your truck's matching connector. It's available in most auto parts stores as well as on Amazon.
A brake controller is typically included in any newer vehicle. If you call Ingli Auto, they can check to see if a harness is available for you. 715- 273- 3358
Selected User Reviews For Tekonsha Pro Series POD Trailer Brake Controller, Timed, 1 to 2 Axles
It took me less than 5 minutes to install (with the Tekonsha wiring adapter) and worked flawlessly right out of the box. This model was chosen not only for the rice, but also so that I could later upgrade to one of Tekonsha's inertia controllers. I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. The controller works flawlessly and does exactly what it should. It took a few braking episodes for me to figure out the indicator light and the amount of braking it provided, but once I did, everything went smoothly.
Pros: This was incredibly simple to put together (thanks to the wiring adapter) and required no mechanical expertise. br> The included documentation as well as the online documentation make this very user friendly. br> It performs exactly as expected. There isn't any fuss, and there isn't any time wasted. br> Once you've gotten used to it, the indicator light is simple to read.
Cons: The level of trailer braking applied is indicated by a changing color indicator light on this unit. This annoyed me at first because it didn't feel precise, but I've grown accustomed to it and no longer mind it.
Finding a port to plug it into was the most difficult aspect of the job. It, on the other hand, is fantastic. You've done a fantastic job on this. I strongly advise you to do so. Tekonsha is a fantastic manufacturer. This is a great buy for the price if you only tow once in a while and have limited space. br>br>I should mention that installing this controller requires a solid electrical body ground. If you don't feel comfortable making one (for example, drilling into steel to make one), you could have it installed by someone else. Install it yourself if you're comfortable drilling into your vehicle, splicing wires, and connecting the unit. br>br>It took me about 20 minutes of very uncomfortable work to locate the plugin on my truck, but it only took me about 10 minutes to install it. It would have taken longer if I had needed to splice wires. If you have the option of using a harness to connect to your vehicle, do so.
This was bought for my 2012 Land Rover LR4. br>br>It was a simple plug-and-play experience for me. Apart from that, I had to buy an extra cable. after it has been plugged in It was ready to use right away! Adjusting the brake intensity on my camper trailer was a breeze. The price I paid was a fraction of the cost of others, and it works perfectly!.
It's simple to set up, but don't believe the "plug and play" claims. Without programming from a Jeep dealer, it will not work when the brake pedal is pressed. The programming alone will set you back $150! I'll keep using it manually until I find a better solution.
My 2001 Silverado towing a 21' travel trailer has a great brake controller.
First and foremost, I'd like to state that I bought this to put under the dash of my 2001 Ford F-150. The towing package is pre-wired on the 150. My boat is only 18 feet long. I intended to use the camper solely for hunting season. We decided that after fixing up the Camper, it was nice enough to take it to a few of the local state parks without being embarrassed. Because of the low price and positive reviews, I decided to purchase this. The brakes are applied by this Brake Controller based on where the dial is turned. Green indicates that there are almost no brakes, yellow indicates that there are medium brakes, and red indicates that the brakes are more severe. You can also use the slider on the front of the unit to manually apply brakes without touching your foot brake. The more expensive units do this for you. It's easy to reach down and change the dial depending on road grade and other factors. This one does not rely on the inertia generated by the motion of your vehicle. This unit, on the other hand, will mount in any position without regard for the filament used in inertia-type units. I was aware of this prior to purchasing it, and I am pleased with how it turned out. We don't intend to travel more than an hour, and the routes to all three parks have little to no traffic and are in areas with lower speed limits. This unit is ideal for my budget and meets all of my requirements.
It works flawlessly; it isn't fancy, but I didn't require it. I used etrailer to cross-reference all of my part numbers. com first, primarily for the wiring that I needed to install in my truck. It was not pre-wired like some of the others. It's almost as if it's ready to use. I'm very pleased.
The first one was damaged, but the second one is in perfect working order. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it gets the job done.
