It is not necessary to buy the mounting kit as well! It came with the mounting kit and this as well. I made a stupid mistake, this kit came with both mounting brackets and the pigtail to connect to the Dodge. This means I have another set of mounting brackets in my possession for no good I messed up. You don't need anything else to use this. So if you buy it, you don't need anything else to use The mistake was only $15, so I guess it can be ignored. Getting it setup was easy all I had to do was plug it in and it worked immediately. This nob can change it's feel on the fly, which makes it useful for pulling 5000+ pounds in mountain passes. In addition, the boost function is a little tricky to get used too. I was able to program the car for no extra cost, and there was no wiring to do with the Dodge connector on my factory installed harness. To hook up your trailer, find a long stretch of road and adjust your controller to your liking, you just have to hook it up.
I love how it works. You won't have to worry about trailer tires locking up when you come to a halt!.
96 Dodge was already wired for this, so all I had to do was plug it into the factory connector and mount it under the dashboard. Whenever I brake, no matter how difficult the situation may be, I forget my toyhauler is behind me. It is so easy to operate that I never have to think about it.
