Questions & Answers
You can look up the type of brake control adapter cable required for your truck's year and model on the internet. GM, Ford, and Dodge each have their own set of adapters. After you've double-checked the cable, you'll need to plug it into the fuse panel to connect it to the brake adapter, which will take about 15 minutes. On older vehicles, you'll need to splice certain wires, which is much more difficult; look for installation instructions on YouTube that are specific to your year and make.
Mine lasted for a year and a half.
95 percent of the time, I believe. The brake controller plug is the same on all 2009 Rams.
If it's equipped with a factory towing package. yes

Anyone who claims to do so is playing games with you. Regardless, this is a high-quality product, as evidenced by my experience with it and four other Tekonsha products. I have the Prodigy P3 brake controller, which works flawlessly. After selling the Ford in which it was originally installed, I was able to quickly and easily install it in my 2008 Dodge Ram using this adapter. It's also compatible with Tekonsha's sister brands (Reese, for example). br>br>It's a lot easier than the old-fashioned way of wiring it up, and I can't recommend it highly enough.
It was a well-made product that performed admirably. I was a little worried about the initial hookup because the wire colors were in different places on the vehicle end of the connecting plug, despite the fact that they were the same colors. Dodge must have used a different color scheme for the wires' function. The blue wire for the trailer brakes was the only one that matched. The connection was completed and worked perfectly after double-checking that the vehicle battery, vehicle brake voltage, and common ground were all in the correct places at the brake controller. Thank you, Amazon, for doing an excellent job in providing this product and for the prompt delivery.
That's how simple it is. *click *clickbr>br> Exactly what I needed for my 1999 Dodge Cummins 2500! The fact that the test light and ohm meter were buried in the tool box was fantastic! When I put this together with the P3 controller, I was overjoyed!.
I bought this along with a Tekonsha P3 brake controller to replace an older Tekonsha Voyager. I did some research online to ensure that this was the correct wire harness for my 1997 Ram 2500, and it was. Because the truck already had the factory trailer tow package, the installation was quick and painless. After installing the P3 controller, I tested its functionality and found it to be flawless. I was able to save a significant amount of time by not having to wire in a custom cable. I would strongly suggest it.
My truck came with a pigtail for installing a brake controller, and the brake controller came with a pigtail as well, but this pre-installed brake controller didn't come with one. Installation was a breeze thanks to the pre-assembled cable. It works perfectly and is far more attractive than a slew of wire splices or shrink tubing.
I had to watch the youtube video for this as well as the one on the product's website, and once I did, I discovered that the harness for this was taped behind my automatic car starter (the only place I couldn't see it). Once you've found it, connect one end to the harness and the other to the Tekonsha P3, and you're done. Even with the harness hidden, it took me longer to figure out where I wanted the Brake Controller to go than it did to wire. I was able to mount on the drivers side by my knee with this harness because it was long enough. If I need to wire a new truck, I'll purchase another. I can't recommend this product highly enough.
I bought this to install my Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller in my new 2000 Dodge 3500 Cummins. I bought the truck used and didn't have a factory pigtail to splice the Prodigy harness with, so I figured I'd just buy the whole harness and keep my Ford harness in case I needed it for another truck. br>br>I've had the same Prodigy controller for 11 years and it still works great. This harness was connected to my controller and plugged in under my dash. The job was completed after two screws were used to secure the controller.
This adapter was required for the installation of a new RV brake controller. It was a cinch to do the job. The old unit was removed, the new one was installed, and the wiring was snapped together in about 20 minutes. It's all over now. I would strongly suggest it.
