It was about the same price to buy a new battery and breakaway switch for my trailer than to buy a whole new kit. As part of the Hopkins 20019, you receive a battery, box/charger, and breakaway switch with a 44" cable attached. I used the mounting hardware that came with my old unit since it did not come with any mounting hardware. As a very simple unit, the 20019 lacks LED indicators to indicate charge status and any extra features. Simple and straightforward, the unit does not include many frills. I needed exactly what you said. Many people have suggested that the 20019 be sold with a LED charge indicator and hardware, but it is On the Hopkins website and in the catalog you can see that it is a basic box without any In many cases, you can't tell the difference between the picture and description. On Amazon, for instance, the picture and description were correct, except there was no sticker on my box. Instead, the writing was embossed into my plastic box. My installation of the wiring and connectors was simple and straight forward. The quality of the components was excellent. The wires were of a good length and I had no problems connecting them to my trailer.
It does not have hardware. The hardware does not need to be mounted. In the advertisement, that was not mentioned. I adapted it to suit myself. Other than that, it's what it's advertised to be. Make sure the cable to tow vehicle is going in the right direction. Keeping your fingers off pinch points is important.
I was happy with it in every aspect. I found the battery to be big enough (electrically) and capable of working in all positions (it is a gel type). The mounting apparatus worked well, even though I chose something different, and the 44" cord connected to the breakaway switch was very convenient. A variety of mounting orientations are possible thanks to the construction and design. On a subjective note, it was good to know that the trailer brakes would now be applied if it broke away.
Very well done, instructions were a bit confusing, but in the end it worked out very nicely.
I really like it.
The installation process is easy.
