They have to be whacking in some way to fit into the hub.
Yes. "with Auto Check" is also included in the title.
"The blue ring inside the hub of the Bearing Buddy® Model 1980A serves as a visual lubricant level indicator. The hub is completely full when the blue ring extends 1/8'' beyond the snap ring (located inside the Bearing Buddy® barrel). The hub will require grease if the blue ring is flush with the snap ring. See our "How Bearing Buddy® Works" page for a closer look at the snap ring.
Remove a grease cap from the axle in the center of the wheel and measure the diameter of the portion of the cap that fits in the tube to determine fit. A scale, a tape measure, or a pair of calipers can all be used to determine this. Make a note of this dimension. Check the dimensions fitment chart on the Bearing Buddy website, then select the Bearing Buddy part number that corresponds to your dimension. Tap it into place with a 2x4 block and a hammer.

They were a perfect fit, easy to install, and did exactly what they said they would. I've had these on other trailers I've owned for many years, and I've never spun a bearing due to a lack of lubrication, nor have I ever had to worry if the bearings had enough grease to keep them protected and running smoothly, nor have I ever had to worry about the bearing overheating or bearing failure while driving down the highway. These Bearing Buddy Protectors will provide you with many years of service and great peace of mind with just a little maintenance and grease refilling every now and then.
Clearly, this is a much higher-quality product than the majority of stamped metal bearing covers. Metal is a strong material that can be machined. I quickly installed each side of my old pop camper using a block of wood and a mallet. Initially, there was a lot of grease leaking out around the nipple, but that was most likely due to my inexperience with the new grease gun. br>br>I did find a helpful video of a guy you fill until it starts to float back toward you on the internet.
While I understand that these were designed to keep grease in the hubs of boat trailers, they can also help if you have a cargo trailer that has a lot of miles on it and carries heavy loads. There will be no need to disassemble the hubs every year to pack the bearings. Simply connect your grease gun to the fitting and fill it with new grease. A task that once took an hour or more is now completed in a matter of minutes.
There's a bunch of pals with them. Because these have a weep hole, the grease seal will not be blown out.
They fit and work perfectly; I left them outside in the garage on a cold night, and they were easy to install on the trailer while they were still cold, which I believe helped. Start with a hammer, then finish with a board for a flat, flush installation.
It was simple and quick to put together. Because the quality of bearings and roads these days is pretty low, I wouldn't have a trailer without some sort of easy lubrication system.
To save a little money, I used off-brand tires on my trailer, but they broke down. These are heavy-duty and well-made. Save time and money by ordering these high-quality parts from the start. I'll be using all of them in the future.
Bearing Buddy bearing protectors have been on my boat and utility trailers for many years. Derek's Goods shipped in a timely manner, and I'm a happy customer. br>I've never had a problem, and the product is of excellent quality. Jim.
