For an ALKO AXLE, that isn't a good number. ALKO axles have capacities of 2000, 3500, 4400, 5200, 6000, and 7000 pounds, among others. The 3500 would be able to use these.
When you've got the bearings adjusted, bend one tab up on the nut with the washer behind it. The nut is prevented from loosening by bending the tab up.
On a scale of one hundredths, I'm measuring with a steel rule. 550 At home, there is no dial caliper.
It all depends on whether your trailer has a straight or tapered spindle. My shaft had a tapered shape to it. Removing the seal and bearing and checking the numbers imprinted on each is the best way to figure out which bearing you need for your trailer. You'll never go wrong this way!

These bearings will most likely do the job if you use the proper grease and don't overtighten them. WPS, a Chinese company, created my four-pair set. As a machinist, I examine surface finishes on items such as bearings. When using a 5X jeweler's eye loupe to examine WPS bearings. The bearing races appear to have a good surface finish. However, I was dissatisfied with the bearings' surface finish. They could have been a little better, in my opinion. Like I said, they'll probably do the job, but they don't have the same level of surface finish as a Timken bearing set. I've seen some nice bearing sets come out of China, so I'm confident they can handle it.
I'm extremely irritated- I was in the middle of a full bearing changeout in preparation for our trip this weekend when I discovered one of the brand new bearings had bent, causing the bearing to not roll freely. Now I have to decide whether to send back all of the bearings and leave everything exposed and off, cancel my trip, or go to the auto part store and see if I can get four bearings at the last minute.
Bearings, races, and seals for a tandem axle boat trailer were purchased to replace the existing ones. As expected, the fit was spot on. I would have given it a five-star rating if I had put enough miles on the bearings to do so. Having said that, I don't believe there will be any issues. I recommend purchasing a bearing race remover / installer set for those who are replacing bearing sets and seals for the first time, though a properly sized socket can be used as well. If you're going to buy an installer/remover set, make sure you get the right size, i. e. , in either SAE or metric units, depending on your needs. Component parts and/or races may be damaged by minor (incorrect) disc size variations.
The size of half of the seals was correct, while the other half was incorrect. Even if you have the spindle that the set is supposed to be for, I believe this will work for some trailer wheels but not others. Before you buy a set of seals, my advice is to buy or borrow a good set of digital calipers that can measure to the thousands of an inch and carefully measure the inside and outside diameter of both the inner and outer races and race cylinders, as well as the spindle, to ensure that all measurements match up.
Poop from the horses! I ordered two sets, both of which were excessively packaged. It sounded like a bad Christmas joke. The packaging is excellent. China stamped them all, but that is no longer the case. Except for grease, everything you'll need to replace a double axle trailer bearing is included. A bearing packing tool, by the way, is a good investment.
Timken bearing sets and seals would have cost nearly three times as much if I had put this kit on my car hauler that pulls my side by side. The difference between $115 and $42 is significant. They're made in China, so only time will tell if they'll hold up; if not, they'll be returned to Timken.
Packaging can sometimes reveal the quality of a product's construction. To be honest, I was blown away by the bearings' packaging. To keep them clean, there are three different wrappings. I was not disappointed when I finally forced myself to open them; the bearings were clean and not sloppy at all. It was simple to put together and it was a perfect fit.
At a local parts store, I calculated the cost of this kit. This was a quarter of the price, based on comparisons. Only put about 1000 miles on them so far, but other than tightening bearings after the first 50 miles, they're as good as OEM. Everything is going as planned. This trailer is being towed over 6000 miles to Alaska. When I'm finished, I'll post an update!.
