Protect all ATV / UTV aluminum hawses / synthetic ropes by using this hook stopper and line saver with your winch.

When walking down the trail, this hook stopper reduces hook / fairlead rattle and chatter. The winch motor and gears are protected by the hook saver, which prevents the cable from being pulled in too far and bottoming out on the rollers. To prevent the cable from becoming loose, maintain tension on the hook.

Steel roller fairleads and aluminum hawse fairleads, steel cables, and synthetic ropes are all compatible.

Rubber is used to make this cable saver, and it is extremely durable. The four screws are solid iron screws with a zinc-coated surface that effectively prevents oxidation and corrosion. Dimensions can be found in the photos.

Is it possible to use this with a 3/16 wire cable?

Yes, it will happen. It will not, however, fit snugly around the cable and will be able to move back and forth. This feature came in handy when I needed to get the hook end of my winch cable into a tight space. If the cable saver couldn't slide up along the cable and out of the way, I wouldn't be able to do this.

As a result, it will sag - After that, I secured it with a couple of large zip ties. The hardware is not stainless, or at least not of high quality stainless (as I can see with a magnet), so it will rust, and the nuts do not lock. To aid in the process, I used thread locker and applied clear coat. They have a foul odor - Like, really bad, like that cheap Chinese oil, but it won't matter once it's installed. When I first opened the package, my wife insisted that I put it outside - So, once you're in your garage, wait to open it. )br>br>It's nice that they include an allen wrench for the hardware. br>They appear to work well and aren't brittle, so I'm confident they'll hold up. br>br>With ease, you could use this on a jeep or truck winch.

The center hole, on the other hand, is considerably larger. The product is of high quality. The center hole, however, is significantly larger than that of a typical UTV winch cable. br>I had to "tape-in" a lot of things. Because of the large central hole of the Stopper, you must "up" the cable to get a "bite" on it.

It is well-made

This is on a rope line that I used to replace my metal winch line. On my ATV Warn 2000 winch, it works perfectly. Just outside the inner rollers, it comes to a halt. Although there is a nice spot for a washer as shown in the photo, it does not come with one. I added a washer because I was replacing my line at the same time I installed this stopper, which improved it even more.

When retracting, take care not to overextend yourself

In the space of two years, I've ordered three hook stoppers. It works fine until you retract the cable too far and apply too much pressure to the stopper, at which point it falls apart. I have a Warn winch that weighs 2000 pounds. It's simple to attach the cable, and it appears to be sturdy enough to last. During the winter, when I'm removing snow with my plow, I use my winch a lot. I believe the stopper should be capable of stopping a winch weighing 2000 pounds. I'm going to try harder from now on to keep the plow from rising too high. I'll be done with them if this new stopper fails.

It is an absolute must-have for your winch

It can save your finger from being crushed, but it already had mine before I ordered one. I was pulling the slack out of the cable when I accidentally hit the wrong button on the remote and it pulled the hook and my finger right through the roller guides. "Yes, it was stupid of me," I admit, but now even if I or someone else made the same mistake, the stopper would prevent it from pulling inside.

The cable for a four-wheeler winch did not fit well

The price is extremely low. It was extremely cheap and didn't even come close to fitting the cable. I would return, but it would most likely be more expensive than it is worth. I would not suggest it.

I found it very simple to set up

a little too big Installing it was a breeze. Although an Allen wrench is included, a 10mm socket is required to keep the nut from spinning. The inside diameter is a little too large to clamp on a metal cable or a small synthetic rope, but it does hold on the outer synthetic rope sleeve at the hook end, albeit loosely. It does, however, serve as a bump stop, which is its primary function.

This is an excellent hook breaker

It's effective enough to keep my winch hook from pulling all the way through the fairlead. If you apply constant force to it, such as by drawing it in too far on the fairlead and leaving it, it will distort in shape, but I believe this is a normal characteristic of the rubber used to make the stopper.
