Questions & Answers

Can you tell me how much the front and rear tires can be adjusted ?

It can be cut if it's too short, I have 4 chain links on the rears, but no chains on the fronts. I cannot give exact lengths since I added quick disconnects. I have a F350 with Happijac front and rear mounts. It may be of help to you

What are the dimensions of these 1/2' threds?

ask "these" in reference to the short ones and the longer ones, then they are the same.

How long should a piece of jewelry be when fully adjusted ?

The installation instructions specify that the front ones (spring loaded) are 15"- 21". A rear wheel measures 21" and a front wheel measures 22" This product has a maximum reach of 5".

The tie down system can be attached to frame mounted tie downs such as those used by forklifts
5/5

With my previous frame mounted tie downs, I had a welder construct them for less than half the cost, but I wanted to experiment with a different type of turnbuckle system than the odd ancient springs that came with my old It is a 4 piece set I found on Amazon and after installing them correctly, they work beautifully. In reality, there are only a couple of spring loaded ones and two that are spring aided. Those with a spring loaded mechanism need to be placed in the In the back of the set is the damaged set. It is important that you DO NOT reverse this step, or you may end up ripping out your camper tie point or breaking your turnbuckle. It will be the ones with the short barrels at the front that will be front ones. It will take you about 12 hours An adapter for chain links and 16 inches of chain. I estimate that this will cost a total of $12. Add pictures when I have time. In order to understand what is happening to the camper, you need to take a realistic view of it. A slight movement up and down is produced up front of the cabover and an angular pivot point near the rear occurs when the forward motion is developed. It is because of the springs up front that you need them. They are designed for happyjack fronts that are mounted lower, not the bottom frame type, but since they are so much less expensive than the torklift brand, I think they are worth a try. I traveled with them over hills, gravel, and highway last week and they were Before you attach the drum cylinder, make sure you attach the individual jam nuts that come in the small package. The rod can then be marked and tightened, and then the 1/4 mark can be measured. All you have to do is tighten down the jam nut. For the rears, it is a bit of a judgement call, but don't overtorque the rear dampers. There is the possibility that they could stress your camper tie-in. Keeping it in place with just at least a half turn extra is quite easy.

I have used these turnbuckles twice and the first time, they performed flawlessly
5/5

I am very pleased with the product and customer service. I have not encountered any issues. This pair of shorts is easy to put on and take off, and does just what it is supposed to. As for the second time, they didn't have any problems - they got their job done for the weekend without incident. Afterward, I couldn't get one of the long ones loose once I took them off. The thing had to be broken free with a wrench and I had to crank the thing quite hard. It was almost too hot to touch the nut on the end when I eventually removed the turnbuckle. On the threaded J-shaped bar, there are threads It looked like there were threads down at the bottom of the nut, but I couldn't see any. After I put a tap in the hole, I tried to clean up whatever was causing the friction, but that didn't work. It has been awhile since I heard from Lippert. The review will be updated once I have a chance to speak I have updated In my contact with Lippert/Happijac, I informed them of the issue and requested suggestions for how to remove it. I sent them some photos and measurements and received another turnbuckle and a threaded jig with just one email Customers are well treated and products are backed up by the company. This is now a 5 star rating.

As these camper turnbuckles were
3/5

I ordered the Happy Jack / Lippert components original camper turnbuckles(182898) because I thought they would be It was important to me that the stainless steel Happy Jack / Lippert components original camper turnbuckles (182898) I ordered be utilized on the camper I'm building. The truth is, they aren't! Stainless steel makes up the barrel (smooth round section), but the turnbuckle, hooks, threaded rod, end nuts on the barrel, and spring within the barrel in the front turnbuckles are entirely plated with ferrous metal, magnetic, and therefore will rust. False advertising is something that this company should be dealt with as a class action.

The product is good, but the quality control appears suspect
3/5

Great design is first and foremost. A variety of mounts are available for each model. Body made from stainless steel is best, hooks made from zinc thread are Having owned two sets so far, I highly recommend a light grease or oil (Tri-Blend or You can get great results from using Flow) on the threads before using them. As a result, it will be easier to adjust and less likely to accumulate dirt and corrosion, especially in the rear. Sadly, one of the hooks in the last set of bolts is badly damaged down the thread on the rear tire. The threads can turned, but adjusting it by hand is virtually impossible due to the excessive force required to turn past a section that is bad. Although it can be cleaned up with a die, I expected better quality control at that.

For the past month, I have been installing the software
4/5

There are no issues with loosening. For the past month, I have been installing the software. The loosening has not been a problem. Due to the camper shifting, I have had to retighten them a few times. The newer ones have a locking nut. The older ones didn't.

downs for a HappyJac camper system worked on a Ford F-150 There are 250 days left in This is part of a Happijac system that holds down a fully enclosed camper on my 2015 Ford Fusion There are only a few problems with the new system, such as the long bars are very hard to turn at first
4/5

It became easier to mount the truck after turning with wrenches and applying lubricant. It is important to remember that the short ones only have springs and they must be kept in the There are long ones that don't have springs, and they function to stabilize the table.

They worked fine once they were replaced, but the spring on the front squeaks when they start up
3/5

As soon as I got my turnbuckles, I was so happy! It didn't take long for one of them to give up! One of the turnbuckles had a messed up female thread, so it had to be returned to you. Although the new ones worked fine, the springs in the front ones squeaked. The camper hasn't been put back on the truck yet after I sprayed some WD40 into the cylinder.

I had to modify slightly the product, but the end result is good
4/5

I had to cut and shorten the rods to fit the brackets, but I found the product to be satisfactory. Tie downs should be used with frame mounts if your camper is particularly large, but these work wonderfully with smaller campers.
