Be sure to use a lock! For threaded fasteners, locktight should be used and the motor must be torqued according to the In order for the safety cables to fit without interfering with the other components of the base plate, I had to work with them

I had to remove the forward skid plate to access the bolts for removing the tow hook, but other than that it was a straight forward and easy installation. Since I have the complete skid plate package, the forward skid plate did have to be dropped.

The installation was very easy

The installation was very easy. I was disappointed to find four bolts sized incorrectly in my kit. I initially was not going to get any help since I purchased it from Amazon when I called Blue Ox. In spite of that, they sent me replacement bolts after I explained that the bolts were a Blue Ox package and were the wrong size.

There is nothing wrong with this kit, but the instructions aren't very clear

After looking at the parts assembly diagram and taking the time to understand the instructions, I was able to successfully assemble it. I was tempted to leave 4 stars. This explains why so many people complain about the kit not working since the written instructions are worthless. While the program is functional and installs quite easily, the directions are useless, making it difficult to use. We need to shoot a video on this kit for eTrailer.

A self-install system that is easy to use

We installed the base plates and wiring ourselves with the help of a friend. It was relatively easy to install the base plate. As with the factory tow hooks, the base plates mount in the same location. Installing the nuts on the inside of the frame proved to be the most challenging part of the installation. To connect to the bolt pushed through the frame that holds the base plate, these nuts are fitted with wires that reach through the hollow frame to connect to the nuts attached to it.
