There is no difference between the hitch provided for 2017 and 2018 Kia Sportage models.
The hose is a perfect fit for my 2019 Sportage. As far as I have seen, neither the 2020 nor the 2021 models are significantly different from the current models. The bolts attach directly to the frame.
It was installed in my 2018 Sportage for a couple years before it was removed and installed in my 2021 vehicle. There is a clearance of 10" on mine. My own is 9 and I have no idea why yours is This is 8".
When I purchased the one to fit my KIA, it came with bolts and was perfectly sized.

After viewing a few videos online, I went to the library. To attach the hitch, you simply need to remove the 2 undercovers on the rear corners, release one muffler harness and place the hitch on top. Nevertheless, I learned the hard way to be cautious of the end of the muffler tail pipe. My 2017 FE Kia Sportage did not have any rounded attachments for the tail pipe. Steel pipe with the end cut off was pretty much what it was. I'm in awe of how sharp it is. My finger was sliced in two when I lodged my index finger into the tailpipe of the muffler as I was moving it into place. All over the place is blood. In the end, I just covered the tailpipe with a thick gloves and carried on. However, the rest of the installation went smoothly. Another hitch install was also carried out the following day on a CX-type vehicle It took 2 hours 5 minutes to be able to do that.
It looks like the hitch is in good shape. Using a car lift, I was able to install this quickly. About 45 minutes were required to set up the software. It came with a 2020 Kia Sportage S premium package that I installed. Just in case the premium package involves more plastic trims to remove than the other types of trims, I mention it in this case. Two 1" tie downs or two bungee cords are also helpful or a support for the exhaust. Use a #1 flathead screwdriver or clip remover to remove the rubber support from the exhaust. A safety glass, gloves, and ratcheting set, either 3/8" or 1/2" inch, are necessary. To spin the torque wrench, you will also need a 6" ratchet extension. You may need to use one hand to hold the hitch and the other to screw in the bolts, according to your physical capabilities.
Hardly noticeable when installed, and easy to set up. I admit it's not exactly easy to install, especially for those of us who can't really get up and down from the ground in the first place, but it is totally possible. You will be able to do this in no time at all if you know how to do it yourself. The process took me less than an hour, and I was able to complete it by myself. However, if you can avoid it, doing it by yourself is not advisable. It is a heavy piece of equipment. In order to tighten the tow bar you will need to get under the car, remove some plastic covers, and hold it in place while you remove them. To use the torque wrench, you need to be patient and have a torque wrench on hand. Towing a car isn't as fun as driving somewhere where someone will weld on a tow hitch, and that would make the car less valuable if you later decided to sell it.
I would recommend the new 2017 KIA Sportage SX, it went on well and seems to be very sturdy and well built. It has yet to tow anything, but I have yet to try it. It is my fault that this hitch is on. I needed over an hour to complete the task. Although I followed the included printed instructions on removing the bumper end cap pieces, I had trouble with getting one of the bolts to line up with the side bolt. Then I went online to their website and found a video that explained how to remove the end caps in more detail. Screw in the bottom bolts first, followed by as many side bolts as you can so that you don't damage the frame. To attach the hitch, tap it in the direction of the back of the vehicle. If the side bolts are still missing, tighten the bottom bolt first and it will raise them up so they align. Fasten bolts with 48 lbs of torque.
My kia sportage 2018 was really easy to install, the rear wheels were put on Jack stands and the exhaust was supported with a As I laid on my right side, I used my left knee to support one end and my right hand to support the other, then put a bolt on each side and then I continued. It took me about.
My 2020 Sportage has just been fitted with this hitch. The installation took about an hour, since I did it on my own (I'm 74). I had no trouble installing the program. There was no difficulty removing the panels. On the exhaust hangers, I used soapy water to remove them with no problem. Because I didn't jack up the vehicle, I didn't have much of a lift to make to get the hitch set up. It was easy to screw in the bolts because all of their holes lined up. Solid and sturdy, this is a great piece of furniture. This product has met my expectations very well.
I wasn't sure how to wrap the tow hitch I was able to put it to work in one piece when it arrived. It stated that the installation would take 15 minutes. This was the biggest problem for me. If you own an SX, this is not true. For this to be installed, the rear exhaust needed to be removed. It had to be installed with help. they should have no problems if they do not have a turbo, but make sure to have an extra set of hands on hand.
It was a perfect fit. The unit can be mounted under it without the need for jackstands or a lift. Just slide it under there and bolt it down. I was able to raise it into place with the help of my wife, but you will definitely need an assistant to do so. Hitch cover (available.
