You should be able to get away with replacing your 2004 Chevy 2500 with a 40985 part. The OE would need to be replaced by hardwired on the new one. We would include instructions with a color code so that you'd know which functions match up with what wire color. You should be sure that you're connecting functions instead of colors, since the colors won't You may contact a member of our Product Support Team at 800-662-2471 if you would like to discuss this issue further This is 835. It was easier and faster to hard wire this OEM plug & socket Whether I need to change the receptacle or not will be incredibly easy with the plug-and-play harness I purchased in lieu of my old truck's towing harness. As a result, there is virtually no need to worry about weather There is a gasket at the back of the socket to ensure water tightness I solder and heat-shrink all of the wiring on my harness The product will be shrink-wrapped. To finish off the look, I drilled a 2" hole into the bumper and attached it with stainless screws. As well, any receptacle or wiring up there behind the frame are a lot better protected from water, dirt, and rocks then hanging on a flimsy, rusty bracket down by the hitch. Neither the crimp connectors nor the included cords were used. The connections were all soldered and a weatherproof heat-resistant cable was used The shrink tubing has a glue inside that seals up the electrical To make the new loom inside the factory loom on the towing harness, we staggered the connectors to balance the thickness of the bundle and mated it to the new loom on this In visualization, it looks like one loom all the way up to this OEM plug, where every wire is soldered, and the whole assembly is sealed and weatherproof Tubes that shrink when heated. It would be very bulletproof if this arrangement were in place You can use it in any weather or environment.
The wire was in the weather pack, held in place by a strand or two of This is where quality control is located. In this case, I bought this product for use with another one of their products that did not come with this harness, even though it should have. The oval is of the more recent type, which combines 4 and 7 pins and has Secondly, wires cannot be separated from the flat terminal on the back of the door, but all must be connected from the back of the door through a 7-wire. You don't need to use the other three wires if you are not using the 7-wire style. It is the 7 pin wires branched over to the 4 pin wires on the spring door side that are in contact with the branched circuit. This part was installed **Please note that I made this work by taking apart the bad connector and refitting to slight modifications after taking off the lock connectors on the pins that went to the Customer service advised 6 days ago. No response has been received since then. Be cautious when buying Hopkins products if you sense a lack of quality control. It is my only two one-star reviews in the 10 years I have been on Amazon. It is my hope that this information will be helpful to.
A 2013 F150 I bought with a damaged trailer plug plug receptacle came with a lot of extra wire. I had to purchase a new connector and hard-wire it into the chassis harness at the back of the truck since I could not salvage the old one. I think this item matches the bill great. Besides being longer and more heavy gauge than a truck harness, it has plenty of extra wire. With marine grade butt connectors and heatshrink on the inside of the connectors, I achieved a water-tight connection It is protected by a seal of proof. It has been installed for three months and I have not had any problems with it, despite several major snowstorms.
For connecting my tow connector, I used this. It worked fine. In terms of length, it was long enough to reach the license plate area where I connected to my tow connector, but it was barely long enough to reach the center of the license plate area. made it difficult to pull it very tightly, I wish it had been a tad bit longer, but the finished product looked excellent.
I am very pleased with this product and its It was a breeze to install my new hitch and trailer light device on my 2019 Tacoma. This harness connected directly to the OEM bumper connector without any issues. This addon saved us a lot of money, and we now have our system running as a OEM.
When someone just cut the old wires in a used car, this harness is a good solution. A tricky part is figuring out how the wires are connected. While they tell you what the colors on their pigtail mean, it can take some time to figure out what their corresponding wiring on the truck means. In my case, a 2006 Sierra 3500 commercial model with a trailer brake was involved. It was possible to determine the function of about half of the truck wires simply by analyzing their colors, but with the remaining wires a multimeter was required. Hopkins does not have an issue with the trucks' wires, but it would be rather nice if they had some good cross-over wires for trucks On their website, there are reference charts to help make the installation process easier.
This kit is amazing for the SR5 on the 2019 Tacoma. My plan is to purchase the Hopkins oem style connector and wiring harness, to watch a video on YouTube, and to take it from there. **PSA** I cut the Curt wiring harness off and wired the colors to the oem Hopkins plug (4 wires)**. ** Check out my reviews to see the other 2 products I bought to get this working.
The company recommends using this for certain vehicles that are equipped with trailer wiring harnesses. Because I know a little bit about this, I put together my own 7 wire harness. This gizmo is easier to use than trying to connect seven wires to.
