Questions & Answers

Is there a way I can get some assistance in purchasing a bracket to hold up wiring harnesses?

In the back of the left tail light, there is a bolt that you can remove and replace with a LOOM CLAMP, OR a P CLAMP (uncertain about the proper name), which will keep all of the wiring and the black box in place. Also ATTACHED my ground wire to it, which I thought was a fine place to attach it.

What is the compatibility of curt wiring harness56407 with a 2020 Jeep Wrangler? It states that it will fit on top, but the note says it will not?

YES, I have a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4 door that offers great performance.

It seems to be a plug and play device, so why does it need to be powered?

The unit is plug-and-play and involves connecting the positive wire to the battery and running the lights. Blackbox comes with a battery that powers it. It's a very easy thing

Do you know if there is a bracket for the wiring harness plug that attaches to the receiver ?

I do not think it has a bracket.

Before making a purchase, think about it
3/5

Both my recent vehicles have been fitted with Curt wiring harnesses and I have been extremely satisfied with the results. Thus, I went to Curt without hesitation for the JL4 upgrade I wanted on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler A door opens. Despite reading through other websites, I was not able to find them The reviews on the Model 56407 were critical, but I decided to buy It is difficult to rate the instructions 1 due to a lack of clarity The product is ranked 1 and has a star An asterisk. In order for the product to work the green wire to the passenger tail light needs to be 10 gauge, as others have stated on other websites It was actually spliced in with additional wire to make it 10-inches long. Then, the black power wire from the positive battery terminal to the driver rear harness is 10-inches long as well. The alternative is to make the pants longer. In both cases they are right to a certain extent. If your logical path runs from the front driver to the rear passenger, you will come to the rear and stop In order to guide light you would travel along the frame at the rear of the bumper and away from the muffler the size of a school bus If so, you'd have about 10 inches left over. So I used about 36 inches of material What do you have available in terms of inch wire and duck tape? The power wire begins on the passenger side of the engine bay and terminates at the rear tail of the vehicle on the driver side. It is lighting. You can run the wire through transverse tubing if you are a clean installer, but you want to protect the wire if you are an off-site installer For those ten years or younger who are either roadies or like a neat look, it's a great pair It is about one inch short on wire. If you drape it on a 45-degree angle it gets a little longer At the bottom, there is a 45-degree angle that faces the rear tail - You will be able to use it with a light. The savings I'm guessing is about ten per cent for Curt Mfg They gave us 10 cents a wire and we would have incurred about 25 cents more cost if we had received another 10 cents There would be only 12 inches on each wire, but it would make a huge difference and save me a great deal The next step is to explain how to do it. The instructions will drive you crazy if you are an engineer or possess obsessive/compulsive tendencies. In reality, there are more than 25 crucial steps listed, but they only list about 8. It is still unclear what much of it means. For example, if you want to connect the power wire and the passenger wire as described Even though it may seem harsh, Curt Mfg is a big corporation, and I assume someone was paid to prepare these directions, and they are incomplete, vague, and short. This is unsatisfactory! I managed to successfully complete the task on my first attempt, and it worked great. The hobby wrench turner I am has a three-year old daughter It has knowledge of the procedure and is a car garage. Using this kit for the first time could lead to major frustration. The experience had a profound effect on me, and I felt compelled to write about it. Should you have other options available, I will take them as well. I hope Curt reads this and improves the product. I hope Savannah will do this soon.

The materials are decent, but the instructions and packaging are terrible! There are a lot of other reviews pointing out the totally crazy instructions and time requirements
3/5

Getting this done took me about four hours, maybe four and a half. If you count the time spent searching YouTube for installation help, it would be about five hours. I found the instructions poorly written and incomplete. The photos were marginally helpful, but I would have loved to learn more. It appears that the package I received was missing several of the parts that the Curt Manufacturing supplied to me. There were instructions stated in the document. The zip ties were missing, as well as the double-sided tape Double-sided tape, self-adhesive A tap screw may be used, as well as a The length of the black power lead, which was oddly tacked on by Curt Manufacturing after the order had been shipped, did not bother me. Due to the fact that I installed this on an older computer The Jeep Wrangler JL has a door. Power was run from the battery and around the back of the engine compartment and down the left side near the brake booster, then along the top of the left frame rail with brake lines to the top of the left shock tower then up through the opening specified in the instruction manual. There were no breaches of the firewall or the Running the test was a lot of fun The green wire, which is for the right side, is connected to the green connector beneath the floor, but above the heat shield for the exhaust. The yellow wire goes up through another cavity aft of the wheel well, as well, like for the left side. In step 8 or 9, the instructions mention something vague about running the wire. The scuff panels were removed under the scuffs. It seems to be the only time scuff panels were mentioned in the instructions, and there are no pictures of them. Therefore, I was unable to grasp what their conversation was According to my experience, the quality of the wires and harnesses, and the power module is very good, as I have come to expect from Curt Manufacturing. Despite the problem with the time required and a level of difficulty required, they did a poor job with most other aspects of delivery, instructions, and instructions.

The instructions are a mess, but the program works fine
3/5

There are a number of positive aspects This software will work as expected once it has been installed. There are three things wrong with this I would have liked if there were instructions actually tailored to the Wrangler (other than removing the tail light) given that this is a "custom" wiring harness. In those included, there are key steps that are omitted and the pictures are very small. It would be best to watch a video of the installation of another product (from Mopar, in my case) and follow along, as it will show you how to connect to the battery and run the wire through the kickboards. I think the length of the battery wire has been described in other reviews - for me it was just barely long enough and crimping it in the taillight well was a real pain. There would have been a significant improvement if the wire had been extended by a foot.

An excellent kit, but it can be difficult to install
4/5

This is a well-made wiring kit, with plug in connectors for the taillights, and everything you need - The bad news There is a lot of work involved in installing this. Despite being fairly handy, it took me about 3 hours to hang all the wires through the frame rails. If I hadn't had a fish tape to run the wire, There wasn't a lot of difficulty, just the usual pain in the butt stuff like getting the wire over the heat shield and then moving it to the right side taillight, then getting from there to the frame rail, then getting into Having done it now, I could probably do it again in half the time, but like most jobs similar to this I have to learn as I go. Approximately $80 was spent on the curt hitch, and about $70 was spent on the wiring kit. Installed by a contractor for much less than what is installed by the manufacturer. If I were ordering the Jeep again, I'd probably choose a different model. Maybe I can just add the trailer hitch and be done with it. I'll get back to the review of this wiring kit though. The only fault lies with Curt, the company that makes it, for it being a pain to install. Therefore, I give it a 4 out of 5 for being a nice kit, but I diminish a star for the poorly written The video had to be used on Etrailer. Please contact us.
