Questions & Answers

What is the likelihood of this happening Is there anything I can do to turn of my backup sensors in a After trying a step last time, I ended up having to go back to the beginning. ?

Adding rear sensors to my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie has not caused any issues.

Are there any issues with the backup sensors interfering with this step on a 2019 Ford F-150?

My 2020 Ford F150 is not equipped with the feature. The trip was without a hitch

When you buy this product, does it include the pin, and if not, ?

Thanks. No, our pin does not include a hole for a pin to insert. You may want to consider using a locking hitch pin so that you cannot easily have your step stolen. Steps are designed for a 5/8" pin. I appreciate you taking the time to reply

The receiver fits snugly in it, but how tight? Is it rattling?

There is going to be a rattle in any hitch made in China. It is possible that 1 out of 10 beds will be snug enough not to rattle. This setup is easily remedied with a chip of wood, plastic, or a metal wedge.

I love how you hitched it
4/5

As I have the smittybilt version of this on my F150, it is completely smooth, so when I wanted one for my expedition I chose to get the TGL version because of the traction pattern molded into it. In virtually every way, the Smittybilt version is virtually identical to the one described here except the Smittybilt version is noticeably smaller, which is great for me since it allows me to park my expedition in the garage that much more easily. He is probably going to last a very long time because it is made of steel. The bumper shield has helped me watch out for Prius and Tesla drivers who are texting or going to the bathroom in Austin traffic or a long line at my kids' school. Initially, it did not fit snugly into the stock Ford hitch, but two or three wraps of Gorilla tape and it is setup perfectly. There is a one-star deduction because this product is not made in the United States.

Add this to any truck for a great look
5/5

In a nutshell, It was installed yesterday on my 06 RAM and I have already become a fan. The receiver insert is constructed of solid steel, has two pin positions, a step that is secure and is
I would recommend it to any truck owner as it does not stand out too much and is a great addition to any truck.

This metal step is extremely useful and is a very solid piece of metal
5/5

The metal is solid and looks like a piece of rock. There is a better grip on the smittybilt one because of its texture. I like the idea of protecting the back end of the truck from stupid drivers and parking lot vagrants. In this picture it is locked at the outmost position on a '17 Tacoma, and it is able to be used as a solid tow point, and they work great for short legs, too. (Good friend pointed out that I have both short and old legs) It was just what I needed, not too much packaging. TGL tries to keep up with their inventory with Amazon as much as possible. I had to wait for a couple of weeks for this item to appear on Amazon, but it was totally.

The material is quite dense and Thanks a lot for your help
5/5

There is more play when inserted into the hitch, as other reviewers have pointed out. In this regard, my Toyota 4Runner does not differ. The fit was cited as a complaint by at least three reviewers. In the meantime, I used an approach I've used in other applications that easily tightened the fit by installing the hitch, inserting the locking pin, and while holding the step up, inserting the narrow edge of a wooden door shim until it goes as far as it can. Once you have broken off the shim, press down hard enough to break off the receiver nearly flush with its bottom edge. You will find that the fit is dramatically tightened. It is possible to repeat this procedure whenever you have to change a hitch. Cheap door shims will not scratch steel, so you might want to consider buying a pack. As the climate changes, the shim insert may be slightly swollen or shrunk, but it can still be easily removed no matter what. The heavy and sturdy design deserves 5 stars because the easy fix makes it so convenient. Having grown up in Minnesota, I am aware that rust is natural and contributes to the character of a vehicle.

A solid foundation
4/5

The glossy finish of the bed truck liner was coated with bed truck liner spray. Both the look and the feel of it have improved. A synthetic tape was wrapped around it after it was loose in my 2014 Escape. It now fits perfectly. A solid piece of steel that weighs quite a bit. There is an indication on the side to remind tailgaters not to get too close.

The product is good but the tolerances are poor
3/5

The software does what it is supposed to do. My main goal for buying this was as a set of bumper protectors and a recovery point. As of now, I haven't had the opportunity to assess it's recovery abilities, but I don't think it will be a problem. In terms of using it as a step I think it would be fine, it is made of steel, and it is very If you're going to paint it black, you might want to coat it in something slip resistant since the black surface is The hitch is very loose, as has been mentioned by others, and unfortunately even on the second hole it does not stick out enough to utilize a hitch tightener, at least on the It is loosely fitting, and I expected that, to use the hitch tightener to even that out a bit, but what surprised me is how big the pin hole is, almost twice as large as I expected. In summary, it seems well made and will last a long time. Whether it's due to poor tolerances or to deliberately undersize to save money, it is unsatisfactory. Nevertheless, it is solid and looks like it is made of heavy.

A solid foundation
5/5

He is solidly built and The weight of the item is In my Audi Q7 hitch, the step fit slightly loosely, but I was able to prevent vibration by using anti-vibration tape (3M) when I did this, the pin fitted easily so I installed the step upside down. I no longer feel any vibrations. Instead of a step, I got this as a bumper protector. It was not as nice as the plastic ones from Weathertech, so I purchased this instead. I am extremely happy about this.

This hitch protector/step is awesome
5/5

This hitch protector/step is awesome. I found this thing to be extremely heavy and large. The hose has helped me protect my 4runner from dummies on parking lots and wash the rear of my 4runner. Now that I know I have a little extra space back there for people who can't park, I am more likely to reverse into the stalls. I used the Conor lock to install it and it was easy to do so. There was some 3m automotive tape required to keep rubbing noises from being audible when the vehicle was being driven. The fit is a little tight, but there is no noise since the The grips of this one over the Smittybuilt is the reason I chose it.
