This hitch works well with a longer strap. My short hitch barely sticks out of the receiver, so I would not be able to use it. About 2 1/4 inches beyond the receiver are needed to attach the hitch and push it against the receiver. This product is very well made, I like the double thickness nuts, and I am satisfied with the price and the product. I would recommend it and buy it.
The use of 25" is mandatory. Due to the fact that you are viewing this page, you are probably already aware that hitch accessories and hitch ball inserts vary widely. There is a bike rack that I use that has so much space that when I pin it in it sways back and forth. has a rating of As it is made for both 2" and 1" it doesn't sway or make any noise, but since it can fit both it does effectively beat the sway. If your bolts are 25", you will need to make them longer. This is the case when installed on A number of bolts are protruding toward the ground on the 26" section. It is not likely that this is an issue for trucks or SUVs, but I have a hitch on my Honda Accord and if I back up too close to an obstacle, the bolts either move out of the way or bend. Likewise, I had this on my 2000 GMC Jimmy / Chevy Blazer that has a 2" lift and 31" tires, so that I wouldn't hear the sway when my hitch mount gas and tire carrier was attached. The bolts go downward on this bike and the smoother part is on the top and not the bottom, so I bent and almost broke the bolts on some decent trails like I did on the Accord and curbs. If you install this hitch ball with the smooth side facing up, the bolt ends would face down, but the hitch ball/accessory would fight gravity and the forces downward caused by any trailers or accessories. There is a chance that it will work if it is not too heavy, but it may also fail or bend. It is up to you to decide whether ground clearance is a concern for you.
With the purchase of my trailer hitch cargo carrier, I recently purchased a lot more space. According to all the reviews I read, I should buy this little gadget. In light of the low cost I decided I should include it in my order, even if I do not need it. A Costco cooler with an oversized lid was loaded first, followed by a bunch of wood, and then we loaded up the cargo trailer. Despite the tight fit, the cargo carrier swayed a bit as it was not a tight fit at all, so we worried that it might bounce. As a result, we added this little thing on, which made the whole thing much more As we headed into the mountains, we hit a lot of bumps and took lots of There was no movement by the cargo carrier! Overall, it was a good experience. I would just have liked the item to come with instructions, but I'm sure we were able to figure it out. Thanks fellow reviewers.
If you search for "hitch tightener installation" they generally indicate that the curved lip of this device should be placed on the male side of the hitch connection (i. e. Please see the attached item for a description of what to do. Parking rack for bicycles A number of Amazon reviews, however, show the reverse and I'm not sure how that might impact the results. The U-shaped system, as many reviewers have noted, is difficult to use This includes bolts). As a result of ordering and installing two hitch tighteners, I was able to achieve an even more sturdy connection and reduce the risk of bolt bending for those 1 1/4" hitches. The U-shaped cross section was also positioned When tightening the bolt upside down, the nuts can be retightened more easily after heavy use since they are on the top. You will have the option to place the plates above and below the hitch, plus you will have a spare U-bolt available for use In light of the importance of securing your attached cargo, I think it would be a good idea to pay an extra $10 or so.
Rating) First It was only for a 5/x utility trailer that I previously used a ball hitch (wish I had known about it at the time). Due to my small hands and MS, I had a hard time using a standard impact wrench. According to the photos, one of the problems with the dual hitch extender is that there is not a lot of space for it to latch onto. As a result, I used some Quik Steel Epoxy (JB Weld isn't bad either, just prefer this brand) to stabilize the cover then removed it. Afterwards, I decided to purchase an impact wrench because I needed a socket with 24mm for the other cargo trailer hitch pieces.
