Despite the fact that it connected well to my hitch, I somehow managed to damage the round key before I was able to use it for real. As a result of something pressing against the key, the key became slightly out of round and would no longer operate When that happens while you are away from home and without the second key, it could wind up being very problematic. Keys of this type do not add an extra layer of security, just the opposite in fact. Therefore, having a key that can easily be damaged would be a bad idea.

As long as I can get the cotter pin through the receiver and into the receiver, it is long enough to get it through. After that, the lock is put on. There have been no reported cases of people walking off with expensive receivers - Using this step, I let my kids get in and out of their beds, so it looks like it's working well for us.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the materials and how well it performed. My RV now has both locks attached, which is very handy because they are all I needed one for the RV and one for the tow bar that attaches to the Toad because I installed a 4 inch extension to lower the RV to the towable car. It might be a problem if the end pieces are too long and large. The 7pin light attachment bracket almost blocked the end piece so I had to reverse them. Since the lock is too long and the key end is too large to fit into the trailer hitch hole of my avalanche, I can't install the lock. I suppose you could bend the bracket back enough to allow the lock to slide through, but I purchased the locks primarily for RV use.

Then I will be exceedingly satisfied if they perform as well as they were packaged. I needed two for my trailer hitch that fits on 2 1/2 inch balls. This item is the right size to reach the receiver side to side, and the diameter is the perfect size so there is little slop once it's in the receiver. It also has rubber o rings to stabilize the shaft so it won't move side to side and eliminate rattles. One is for the receiver, and one is for the hitch itself that adjusts the ball up and down another 8 inches. A couple of years ago, I had my hitch portion stolen because I had used a standard pin with a keeper instead. My hitch piece did not get delivered, but they did not get the receiver portion that did have a lock. An error made by a rookie. Now I can lock both sections with nothing more than a single key since they are both keyed the same way. This is yet another.

Security of the lock is something I am unable to comment on. Depending on how much you want, most of these are pretty easy to break off. YouTube has a variety of videos you can watch. This lock set was purchased in order to discourage people from walking off with the receiver hitch mount when the boat is not It is certainly easy to install and remove the lock. These locks are keyed the same way and because you get a double set, you have four spare keys. There is a safety mechanism built into my locking bar, in case the lock comes off for any reason, to keep it in place just in case the lock comes off for any reason. My hitch is the 2" square mount. A pin with an O-shaped hole is inserted into two holes To prevent the pin from shifting during travel, rings are used. Water and dirt are kept out of the lock by means of a rubber cap. Once the lock is unlocked, the key is no longer needed to lock it - just push I have a boat trailer with heavy safety chains that are relatively thick, and when I install the lock, it is difficult to get the chains through the receiver on the lock side. For the most part, getting used to it didn't take me long, and now I use it pretty much every day. I have chain and hooks for my Airstream travel trailer that do not work that way. Chains on this necklace are really heavy, and they have very large hooks. As a result, it is nearly impossible to get them through the hole in the hitch, as the lock head gets Installation of the lock cannot take place without putting the chain in first. The hitch bolts were good, I got the dual matching locks since my hitch is height adjustable, so I need a pin at the truck attachment and one at the height adjust. I left the hitch in place for October, November, and December in northern Michigan. In the photo, you can see the result of a product that is good for snow, ice A cap attached to the lock protected it from moisture or grit. The bolt shaft stood up much better in metal to metal grinding than the hitch ball when it came to rust. I rinsed, then painted the ball black and kept it in the house until I needed it.
