My opinion of Master lock was that I couldn't go wrong with it
3/5

That was not what I thought! My lock seized up in January of this year, after I bought it. With penetrating oil in it, I tried letting it set for more than a week, but it wouldn't set so I took it out. The fact that Master lock is no longer available makes me sad because I thought they were It has been said in other reviews that some type of grease is used to prevent this If I had known when I purchased it, I would have made a better choice! A big thank you to Master Lock! A NEW UPDATE has been posted on In the study I wrote about this lock, I decided to contact Master Lock about a possible I did not know what kind of warranty it had, but it does have a warranty. It's a good idea to bring a pipe
3/5

The Master lock of your father is not this one. In 2015, I bought this lock and used it sparingly whenever I towed a utility trailer, boat, or snowmobile. I liked the idea of a weatherproof cover, so I always kept that on, but after towing one afternoon, the key would not insert. As soon as I saw that the first tumbler was locked, I used WD-40 No purpose was served by trying 40. My next attempt was to insert the key and hit it with a hammer. However, the key is made of a really soft metal and can be easily bent. It really frustrated me at that point and I was going to cut off the conversation. Due to the angle of the saws, it was difficult to get a good angle for cutting The bumpers on the vehicles should be protected in areas where I am comfortable not to damage them. In 2 seconds, my chain link fence post snapped like a twig like a bolt with surprisingly little force once I inserted it over the lock and pulled. I then took a step back and looked at the problem again. I see locks as preventing crimes of opportunity, and realize professionals have the tools to take anything they want, but seeing how easy it was to snap this lock was disturbing. It's hard not to pass on generic items and buy name brands. But after this I do not trust master locks.

Works with Allen Sports Deluxe 4 but not with Allen Sports Deluxe 4 A bike rack with two wheels that mounts to a bike hitch Receivers that are four inches in diameter"
3/5

A bike rack with two wheels that mounts to a bike hitch In contrast to a regular hitch pin, this pin does not make a snug fit. As the diameter of the pin is snug in the hole, but the extra length of the pin (and the lack of a nut to tighten) results in the bike rack rocking back and forth quite a bit. The regular pin was put back in place, the nut was tightened, and now I no longer have a wobble at the receiver. In the case that you have the same bike rack you cannot use this lock. The thief would also have a much easier time I believe breaking the Master Lock pin than undoing the nut and bolt with two wrenches in such I tried returning this to Amazon, but they wouldn't allow me to. To get a refund, I had to chat with customer service. It's probably because I am an Amazon Prime member and make hundreds of purchases per year that they made an exception for me.

Not happy at all
3/5

When I first tried to use it, I had to wiggle the key for a long time to get it to work. Not happy at all. When I first tried to use it, I had to wiggle the key for a long time to get it to work. I tried the second key that came with it as well and it still didn't work. As soon as I returned to Amazon, I clicked on the "Return" button and was given the following message "This product is not eligible for return. ". This is the first time I've seen that message on Amazon, but I guess the seller is aware it's a crappy product and doesn't want to return it.

An old, rusted lock has been damaged by corrosion
3/5

The lock I have been using for almost a year now. The system had been working fine up until now In the fall, I unlocked it for the last time. There is always a rubber keyhole cover on the device. East Tennessee is not densely populated, so there is not a lot of salt applied to our roads, and even if there is, shouldn't the lock mechanism provide corrosion protection? My goal was to remove the lock today, so I went to remove it. Keyholes did not fit the key, so I was unable to use the key. I found corrosion at the very top of the keyhole when I examined it. With a copper wire pick that I made from a piece of copper wire, I soaked the lock in PB penetrating oil, then picked off the corrosion that had softened. Even after entering the key, it would not accept it. My hope was that it would become softer after more soaking. It took about 30 minutes before I could try We are not happy! I further examined the pins and found that they were corroded into their positions. It took all the picking, pushing, and even hammering I could muster to loosen them up. I used a Dremel tool and a cut-away to complete my final task it was very straightforward The wheel has come off. I was able to fix it using that. A few years ago, I had one of these before. My experience with it was never a problem. In spite of the rubber lock cover falling off, it always opened. While I have no idea what's going on at Master Lock, the fact that their locks can't last six months without being turned proves that they are using cheaper materials. It is very disappointing that this lock does not work. In the future, I'll look for another replacement elsewhere. Sadly, it's a bit of a shame because it's a pretty decent.

Locks are extremely difficult to find the right key for
3/5

Multiple attempts are always required to lock the device. I was sure it was on tight when I hooked it up early Saturday morning. When I got out into the street, I found the lock was missing. A little more than 30 minutes after getting stuck, the pin wiggled out of it. After my trailer bounced on the highway, my blazer was still intact by the grace of God thanks to the safety chains. As dumb luck would have it, I happened to be in the right lane near the exit, and I did not have the original pin in my vehicle, so I stopped there. As a result, I was able to pick up the trailer and hook it back up, as well as pull off to a service station to fix my ripped In the end, I lost my 7 pin to 4 adapter and I'm sure this incident had something to do with it. The device looks good, but it's very fickle and could kill someone if it didn't work.
