My key won't come out because you have to turn the key several times in order to lock it before you can pull it out. I don't know how it would loosen up because you have to turn the key several times to lock it. I have found it to be one of the best locks I've ever purchased.

A 10 day trip across the middle of the country with a light trailer was the first time the trailer was used We traveled the west of the US in December and January when road conditions were excellent to moderate. In other words, the salt spray was present but not as bad as it would be if there were a lot of snow or ice. My reaction to the rust on this locking pin after disassembling the entire hitch assembly after the trip was to remove it to examine the new components (see photos). In order to verify that the corrosion was not mere rust or markings from the hitch receiver components attached to the pin, I thoroughly cleaned it prior to taking these photos. I have no concerns about the quality of the lock as it appears to be in good working order. On the back of the truck, it was a bit challenging to start. Since I began using know a month ago, I have noticed many improvements.
The 3in Receiver lock on this page is well made. A very functional one like this is hard to find, and not many of them are available.
