I think this is the best deal and is very durable. We traveled almost 5,500 miles in just 13 days pulling a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sport from South Texas to Arkansas and onto Kenai, Alaska via the scenic route. There were zero issues. Some of the areas of the drive were rougher than others. We had no problems getting our 16-year-old to disconnect his Jeep when he stopped at various places. The metal was bolted directly to the frame of the Jeep with the hardware provided, and it was a solid mount. Upon its return to the south in six months, we will tow it up north. In the fall, we will be able to use this tow bar again without having to replace it. A brief update With 15,000 more miles on the clock, no signs of slowing down. In the 4x4 he went out of clutch while riding. I hooked it up to a truck and tow it home so it could be repaired. This is an extremely convenient and easy to use product. To prepare for the 1000-mile tow I will make this summer, I purchased this tow bar. In my case, I used it to tow my 2012 Jeep I weighed my JK, since it's pretty well modified I had no problems with the tow bar and showed no signs of wear at the end of the trip As we traveled from central California to central Oregon and back, we managed to climb a lot of hills. As the Jeep tracked behind the motorhome, it was perfectly in line. I will disclose to all those who will read this review that I was very concerned about the strength of the grade 5 bolts that came with the tow bar, so I upgraded them all to grade 8 bolts for an additional $25. Keep an eye on the whole drive with the up camera!.

It didn't matter if it stated that this tow bar was only compatible with Smittybilt bumper D rings, so I ordered it anyway. This statement is BS in my opinion. -The bumper I bought is a EAG front bumper for my TJ Jeep, and the mounts for this tow bar are right on the bumper. In turn, I assume they do that so you will buy Tow bar is adjustable, but it is not a fixed These bumpers can be adapted to a variety of bumper types. I think this should work fine for you. My only concern is to upgrade to grade 8 hardware, but that is something I will do. You are welcome to get the bumper you desire.

The only way to get something better than this is to spend hundreds more for a Roadmaster Stowaway (I had to take the Roadmaster off my Jeep to fit my new Smittybilt bumper). What surprised me was the high quality of construction of this Smittybilt Tow Bar. I had never seen a tow bar like this one before, so the picture is misleading. additional accessories to allow you to mount it in the way that suits you. Weighing more than a standard screwdriver, removing and replacing it is a bit more difficult. It has been placed on an ice chest so it can be easily installed and disconnected. Don't be surprised if you have to put a lot of muscle into those bolts. With my Jeep Wrangler, I just have to shift into Neutral and grab the tow bar so I can pull the Jeep up to the hitch once the transfer case is in Neutral. The track was very smooth and there were no drifts. This tow bar receives an enthusiastic recommendation from me. Whenever I go to places like Montana, I only tow it behind a pickup so I can drive around on back roads without having to drive it all the way.

A Jeep is towed behind an F150 4x4 by hooking it up to the towing system. Quite frankly, you have to buy an additional set of safety chains, but the equipment for them is included, too. You should be aware that the angle that is created by a height disparity between the vehicles cannot be greater than 5 degrees. There may be a need for a zero drop or even a hitch with a rise. Although the picture and description suggest otherwise, the kit (which Smittybilt told me it included) comes with only ONE pair I could not attach the chain to the safety rings on my hitch because these chains were too short. D is the easiest way to tow When mounting to a ring or a d-ring, this is an excellent option, although the spacers are a bit loose in the d-rings This ring mount is for your ring. The rest of the time, I'm hard pressed to see how this is any better than the other bare-bones It is all-encompassing All in all, this will do the job and is fairly easy to put together, but then there is the issue of the hardware not matching that shown in the pictures.

As soon as I saw the mounting slots for the bumpers I knew it was a quality product. I was disappointed that they would not fit on my bumper (too big), but nonetheless their commitment to quality is evident. As long as I used the supplied washers and nuts, I was able to attach the brackets directly to the bumper, which was more than enough for towing. Even though you can find cheaper units on the market, just one bad purchase can result in thousands of dollars in damages if it is.
