Selected User Reviews For Blue Ox BX1690 Baseplate with Removable Tab
As shown in the instructions and the instruction picture, there is a welded bolt on one side of the framework that must be removed, but it is never mentioned. In an attempt to be clever, it assumed the mounting on both sides was the same, which wasn't the case. As a result, the installation took more time than usual. After installation, it was able to pass through the grill nicely, and I really like the way the blue ox removable hitch connector broke down if you needed to take it out.
But it It will take you just a few minutes to complete the task if you study the instructions, watch many you tube videos about your car and persevere. In addition to the jacks, you will also need two hoists to lift the weight It's not easy to complete a worthwhile DIY project, but stay with it and you can succeed.
When tabs are removed, the whole compartment almost disappears, but I wish brackets for the plug in were shorter, the only visible part is the plug post. I painted the post flat black too help hide it. $475 was paid. The installation will include hooking up lights I am running brake buddy wires from the first floor to the second floor. I installed this product on a 2014 Cadillac SRX with two vertical bars in the lower grille. I cannot even tell they were there, you can barely see their existence. It was a very good day.
No problems were encountered in installing the baseplate. A Cadillac STX is towing my trailer, so we're happy.
The fit is perfect, the instructions are clear, and the quality is excellent. A small, almost invisible device when it is.
The pre-drilled holes on the Blue Ox units did not line up with those on my 2016 SRC. New holes needed to be drilled, so I had more work to do.
That's a good fit for you.
