Why did I give it a 4 when it was so expensive, but it was well built and looked really nice, so why was it so expensive? Let me tell you about my life. When I was choosing a drop hitch, I was torn between an 8" drop and a 6". At the end I decided to buy the 8" drop and when I was installing it, I realized I could get by with a 6". And you know what else? Since the lower ball (the one on the bottom, upside down) hangs down, the clearance from the ground is exactly the same for a 6" or 8" drop hitch (check out the photo and imagine the call being at the bottom of the column, and you see what I mean). Typically, the ball is 2" below the vertical shaft of the drop hitch when the drop hitch is set to the lowest point on the 6" To sum it up if you want to buy the 6" drop, buy the 8" drop instead This gives you the same clearance as well as the chance to adjust it by 2 more inches if needed. Only by purchasing a Weigh Safe hitch with the tongue weight indicator can you get a 6" drop hitch with maximum clearance. There are two separate hitch balls on that one. However, I wasn't interested in or in need of the weight indicator, since that unit costs a lot more money. It is possible to buy a single ball unit, but then add that to the price and you're ready to buy the tongue weight indicator. Although I still love my hitch, I don't want to give it up. The ring is massive and it still looks good - That thing has already paid for itself and it saved my truck. I'm a convinced idiot now! I get compliments all the time about this thing - check the video. It just remains to be seen how long.
