Extreme Max Winch Mount is a winch mount with a lot of power
3/5

I bought this to install a Badlands (Hbr Frt) 3500 winch on my 2017 Polaris Sportsman 570. As a result of my mixed installation experience, I've compiled a list of observations. The mount is thinner gauge than the mounting plate that came with the winch, but it appears to be durable and rigid enough. I didn't use the mounting plate that came with the winch. There isn't a place for it (did I leave something out?). Only the four base mounting screw holes are used to attach the winch; the two others in front on the bottom may be used for something else. Fairlead is standard, and it was perfectly aligned with the mount's face. Advantages: br>br> The holes for mounting were perfectly aligned. I had to pry the opening of the atv's frame just a little to wedge it in and tickle it with a 1 dead blow hammer, either because the mount itself is a little wide or because the frame opening is a little narrow. Overall, this is a good thing because there is no wiggle or play. As long as the nutserts stay in place, the assembly and finish are excellent. I'm hoping it'll be strong enough to handle the torque generated during winching, and I'm optimistic until I see otherwise; otherwise, I wouldn't have put it in. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. Sheet of instructions: Despite the fact that this was the bracket for my wheeler, the instructions didn't mention it, so I was worried at first that I'd been sent the wrong unit or that I'd placed an incorrect order. Regardless of your ATV, instructions, or photos, they were all worthless in the end. It's a good thing that installation is a no-brainer. I mounted the winch so that it hangs from the mounting bracket rather than sitting in it. So, if I did something wrong, the instructions were useless because brackets are displayed in both directions. It seemed to fit better this way, but if I made a mistake, I'd appreciate it if someone could give me feedback because this isn't a procedure I'd like to repeat. When it comes to repeating procedures, I believe it is a HUGE oversight on the part of Extreme Max that once this bracket is installed, the front differential fill plug is no longer accessible. As a result, when I check/change the oil in the front differential, the winch also checks/changes oil. It is necessary to remove and reinstall the bracket assembly. I'm thinking of using a step drill (bit) to make an access port in the back; does anyone else have any suggestions? br>br>Conclusion: br>br> Overall, the fit and finish are excellent. Strong. Fit is a little tight. Instructions are completely useless, and there is no assistance available. To get to the front diff plug, you'll need a port through the back wall. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> The star rating has been reduced to two. Making access to the front diff fill plug was an off-the-cuff remark. There isn't enough room to add an access port, so the assembly will have to be removed to get to the plug, but I'm open to any other ideas. br>I removed and reinstalled the bracket and winch upright rather than inverted (which took another two hours due to how tight it fit and the fact that I had to pry the frame mounting plates apart to do so). As a result, the mounting bracket's back made direct contact with the bottom radiator tank of the wheeler. The only options are to hang the winch upside down without the support of the base plate, which I find unacceptable, or to use a different mount.

Fits perfectly with the 2020 Sportsman 570 Touring
5/5

My 2020 Polaris Sportsman 570 Touring was a perfect fit. Although the model years for 2020 have not yet been announced, they appear to be a good match. I refuse to grind, bend, drill, or hammer. All of the pieces were simple to put together. br>br>The winch I used was a HarborFreight Badlands 2500lb winch. That was perfect for the frame, but the cable guide that came with the winch was far too small. I'll place an order for the other one mentioned in the comments.

Fits Polaris Sportsman 450 models from 2021, but not the OEM bumper
3/5

In less than an hour, I had it installed on my 2021 Polaris Sportsman 450. To fit the Zeke 3500 winch bolts, I had to drill two more holes. It is inverted, but this does not appear to have an impact on performance. The most difficult part for me was mounting the OEM bumper after the winch was installed. Because the holes on this bracket don't line up, I had to remove the winch and drill again (which took another hour). The bolt/nut, however, will not fit between the winch and the plate because there is insufficient clearance. I decided to use a self-tapping bolt instead of a nut to see what else I could come up with. Although it appears to be working, I am deducting two stars due to the inconvenience.

There has been a change! Caution! Last year, I purchased this mount and the SAME winch (Superwinch LT3000ATV) for my 2015 Polaris Sportsman 570
3/5

Everything worked out beautifully. br>br>I bought it again this year for my 2015 Polaris Sportsman 570 and had alignment issues; the bracket lined up perfectly with the 570's frame, but the winch WOULD NOT FIT into the bracket. It was perplexing; the bracket simply wasn't wide enough to allow the winch to be fully inserted and the bolts to line up. To get the winch to fit, we had to take it to the grinder and grind off about a quarter of an inch. br>br>The year before, I purchased the exact same combination from Amazon - There hasn't been a single problem with fitment. This year, I bought it, and a one-hour job quickly became a three-hour job. Not in the least bit content.

It worked well for small winches, but it needed to be tweaked a little for 5,000 pound winches
3/5

I appreciated having a mount to begin with, but I happened to have a 5000 lb winch on hand and decided to use this bracket for it. With one minor change, i. e. I made it fit the Harbor Freight 5000lb winch by bending it in the right place. I had a mig welder, so I set about making it and the winch's bracket work together and fit, paying close attention to where holes should be and other details. It was a bit of a squeeze to get in there, but it worked out. I had to fiddle around with the wiring to get the right in/out flow. BAM. I also received a wireless remote. I probably saved $500 over buying one from the factory. thanks. This project took me about 7 hours to complete, but look at how much money I saved. I've seen videos of factories that are completed much more quickly, but you get what you pay for.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do
5/5

While the question in this review is whether it is simple to install, it was simple for a small engine technician like myself. However, if you lack mechanical skills, I recommend having it installed at a dealer or a small engine shop. To install this piece, you must first remove the face panels from your atv. It also doesn't say so in the instructions, but I'd recommend using loctite on each bolt to make sure it doesn't come loose during heavy use! Apart from these issues, it's a very well-built item, and I'm looking forward to many years of it being on my bike and holding a variety of winches, as they don't last long in my line of work!.

Although this is a well-made product, the instructions were unclear to me as a first-time winch purchaser and installer
5/5

The top appeared to be the bottom, and I had no idea that the winch on this mount should be suspended from the top rather than through the bottom of the adapter. After three quarters of the way through the directions, I realized I needed to loosen the front ATV frame bolts in order to get the mount into place. As a result, getting the winch mounted took me longer and a lot of trial and error. Although I found the instructions to be inadequate, the product itself is excellent.
