Questions & Answers

Is this going to work with a six-lug wheel?

There's no reason to believe it won't. The upper bolt goes into any tire bolt hole, while the lower bolt and cross piece go into the hub opening. That is all there is to it. Stromberg Carlson in Traverse City, MI, should be contacted with any other questions. Just look it up on the internet. It will manifest itself.

Is there a u-shaped hole in it? Is there a package of bolts included? Thank you very much. ?

That's correct. I'm not the one who's selling anything. I was one of the purchasers of the product. I had to go out and buy some square u-shaped u-shaped u-shaped u-shaped For my application, I'll need nuts and bolts.

Is it just paint or powder coating?

Powder-coated in black

Is it possible to use a dually wheel on this?

A dually wheel installed on the rack as the outside rear, rather than reversed on your truck's front axle, should make contact with the mount. I'd inquire about the weight of the wheel, as well as its cantilevered position and stress.

Too little time - Very dissatisfied
3/5

This is mounted on the back of my 5th wheel on a 4x4 bumper. It is extremely stable, which is why I have given it two stars rather than one. br>br>My problem is that the vertical is too short for a 225/75/15 tire, as the tire's bottom is flush with the bumper's bottom. As a result, when the bumper bottoms out, such as when transitioning from a highway to a gas station or on a rough unpaved road, the tire hits the ground first, bending the lower lug bolt plate and pulling it through the large hole in the center of the wheel, as well as bending the plate where the upper lug bolt attaches (and possibly damaging the wheel?). ) as the back of the tire is ripped off. br>br>I would not buy the 225/75/15 tire again because it was advertised as the test tire.

Parts that are of poor quality
3/5

It may be a good product, but they chose to save money by using low-cost, flimsy components. The upright and the U-shaped The bolts are fine, but the crossbar and the flat tin nuts that are supposed to keep the bolts in place while mounting the tire are both flimsy. Fortunately, I still had the crossbar from my old (bent to hell) bike, and I went to the hardware store and purchased some holding nuts.

I'm torn
3/5

We didn't expect much because they were so inexpensive. To begin with, they were a good fit with the bumpers. There's no issue with that. Second, the tires are too big for them. The tires are crooked as a result of them hanging over the top. To better sandwich the tires, we needed to add a second metal piece. Third, be extremely cautious when driving over any type of incline. We dragged the tires into and out of parking lots twice. We eventually removed the tires and stored them in the back of our truck to avoid ripping one off and losing it. If we had a drop hitch on our truck, this wouldn't have been an issue, but we didn't have one on this trip. br>The good news is that the holder only bent a little bit when dragging the tires. br>As a result, they were fine with the change, but be aware of the drawbacks.

This isn't the right fit for us
3/5

We ordered this tire carrier for our class C motor home after doing some research online and calling a local RV dealer. The product arrived quickly, but after removing it from its packaging (and discarding it), we began closely inspecting it. We were concerned about the tire carrier's ability to support our RV's spare tire and considered modifying it to make the supports stronger. We came up with a plan after talking with a welder, but on the back of the installation sheet, in the middle of the page, it states that the item is only for travel trailers, not motor homes or class C RVs. We are now stuck with the item, and the cost was low, so that is not the issue; the issue is the inconvenience of having something custom built for our needs.

It was a success
3/5

I didn't care for the fact that it came with 1/2-pound of flour. Instead of using 1/2-inch bolts, use 13 bolts. On the trailer, there are 20 lugs that look like lugs. If I hadn't replaced it, a new socket would have been required. U-shaped holes The bolts aren't in the right places. The clip that holds the bolt in place is a farce. This carrier can be modified to work if you have the time and ability to do so.

There's a back-up to the back-up
5/5

This was purchased to supplement our travel trailer's spare tire. Because it's a dual axle trailer, when one tire blows out, it can also blow out the other; additionally, if you're out in the country, it can be a long drive to the next tire store, and even if you do, waiting for the tire to be replaced or repaired on your rim can throw your schedule off. This unit is identical to the one that we already have on board our trailer.

Exceptionally well constructed
5/5

Stromberg Carlson is a manufacturer of high-quality metal products. This spare tire attaches to a standard 4-wheel drive vehicle. RV/camper bumper is 1 inch square. It employs two U-shaped bolts. The most important thing to remember is to make sure the bumper is securely welded to the frame of the RV. That is a flaw in the system. The welds may be stressed by a spare tire and wavy roads, but the spare tire mount will hold even if the bumper does not.

I'm going to give it a one-star rating now
3/5

This is a STROMBERG CARLSON PRODUCT that I purchased. TR- In the year 2018, there was only one tire carrier. I noticed the spare tire was loose today when I returned home from a camping trip. The steel where the lower bolt passes through had snapped in half, according to the inspection. The spare tire would have come off while driving if the other part of the carrier had failed. I cannot recommend this product in any way, and I consider myself extremely fortunate that my spare tire did not come loose and cause an accident. This, in my opinion, is a major setback. This is not a product I would recommend. **** (This was my original review when I bought it in 2018. ) I . This was the perfect complement to my Aliner sport bumper. It appears to be of excellent workmanship. It's got a 205 75 R14 tire on it, and it's very stable. )****.
