The device is controlled by a rod that lowers and raises.
A spare part I had was stolen which caused the older part to be cut and therefore used for the F350. After installing the kit my car seemed to be in good shape, but after we drove from Chicago to the UP, the tire had come down a bit. Since it is new, I figured it probably had to do with that. As I drove back through Chicago for a week or so, I rechecked, and the spare tire and rim were about four inches lower than they should have been. A spare tire for a truck of 18 inches cannot be held up by this rack.
The materials used in this were of the lowest quality. Tire jack failed half way up after being used for the first time. I think it should be illegal to sell on the free market an item that is so useless. This item was extremely difficult to install because its holes did not line up, resulting in an hour's worth of time wasted only to spend another half hour getting the tire down and the item uninstalled. This product is being marketed by Amazon in a shameful way.
I think the value for money is decent. Shipments are delivered on time.
Half the price of the one unit would be.
I purchased it for my 2003 Ford F-150 I installed the product quickly and easily, although the bolt holes were slightly off, it still worked at the end.
I had some trouble getting the bolts in because the holes did not line up
I may have to modify it a bit, but I eventually got the.
One of the holes would not line up with the original, so I had to drill out half an inch of my truck frame in order for it to line up correctly. The rest of the product is well made.
