Questions & Answers

Is this going to fit a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sport?

Hello. Yes, this is compatible with all 2007-2008 models. The Sport model is one of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler models. I hope that this information is useful.

Is it possible to put a 2015 model on it?

It will, in fact. fits the years 2007- 18 JK

Is it possible to fit a 38" in this?

The wheel and tire combination will play a big role in this. It can support a weight of up to 37" but is not rated for that.

Is a 32 going to fit in this?

The stock tire carrier will fit a 32 perfectly and handle the weight with ease. However, the answer is yes if you want to upgrade your carrier for some reason. It fits my 35" spare tire perfectly over the stock bumper with plenty of room to spare until I upgrade the back bumper.

It is a perfect fit
5/5

My 315/75R16 tire (metric 35" x 12") would not fit on my aftermarket bumper, so I needed this spare tire carrier. With the lug plate properly adjusted, this carrier not only raised my tire, but also allowed it to fully contact the tailgate bump stops. Those who wrote "it's crooked" or "it pushes the tire too far" clearly don't know how to follow instructions or have technical ability. The carrier is slightly crooked for a reason; it is meant to be used in conjunction with a hinge reinforcement. Spacers are included in the package to correct the carrier's "crooked" appearance. It's also a win-win situation if you have a CB radio mount because the spacers and the mount are the same thickness. You'll see what I'm talking about if you watch a video of the installation. Overall, this is a fantastic product at an exceptional price.

My 35" tire fit perfectly on my stock JK wheel
4/5

For my 2015 Jeep JK, I love this tire carrier. So far, it appears to be very sturdy and, most importantly, it securely holds my spare tire. br>br>I recently added some BFG K02 315/70/r17 tires to my stock wheels, but the stock carrier couldn't accommodate such a large tire. br>br>This one from Rugged Ridge can accommodate a stock wheel with a large tire, such as a 35". The only drawback is that one of the included bolts snapped off in the tailgate while I was hand tightening them. My bolt extractor came to the rescue, and I decided to stick with the OEM bolts, which worked perfectly.

You'll almost certainly require the complete kit, which includes the hinges
3/5

My Jeep's back gate wouldn't close properly after I bought larger tires for it. The tire had made contact with the bumper. I purchased this item in order to raise the tire's level; however, after receiving it and reading the instructions, it became clear that the real solution was to replace the hinges as well. This component is part of a larger set that also includes hinges. The entire kit is actually quite nice, but I decided to go with a different brand (Smitty Built). But I can make a comparison with this one. The condition of the packaging was deplorable. It sounded like a jumble of metal parts banging around in a box. They attempted, but failed, to install some spacers. When I received the kit from Smitty Built, each component was packaged in its own box, which fit perfectly into a larger box. After that, we'll move on to the instructions. They were absolutely awful. for both of the products Although Rugged Ridge's videos are better than Smitty Built's, the first step is to throw away the printed instructions. They are completely ineffective. Seek out videos on YouTube. br>If you changed the size or weight of your tire, you'll probably need the complete kit. The weight of larger, heavier tires is too much for your Jeep's hinges to handle. I would recommend either this kit or the Smitty Built kit, but both come with terrible instructions.

It gets the job done
5/5

The light relocation bracket is excellent, and the mount is extremely sturdy. I upgraded from a stock tire to a 35" tire, as well as stock wheels to 3. Backspace wheel is 75" in diameter. Because the tire was out further from the tailgate, I had to replace the bumpers against which it rides (not included). Even with the larger tire, the bottom of the tire was almost three inches higher - I also lost a lot of the view out the back window. To get the tire to the desired height, I'll most likely modify the carrier. I did not use the heavy duty hinge kit and instead used the spacers that came with the kit. The spacers are too thin - If you just use those to secure it, your tailgate will bend. To get it to fit properly, I added a washer on top of the spacers. Aside from that, it was a simple add-on. This will make you happy if you want your tire to be a little higher. Lifting the tire on and off several times to get the best fit possible was the most difficult part of the installation.

If you don't want to look out the back window, this is the perfect solution
3/5

Don't get me wrong: it's a very capable tire carrier. However, there isn't enough adjustment for a 35" tire on a 16x9 rim (the most common upgrade), so it's a good 2" higher than it should be and there's no adjustment up. down. As a result, instead of sitting low, it takes up the majority of your rear window visibility for no apparent reason. br>br>This, in my opinion, is a major product failure.

This is a high-quality product that is well worth the money
5/5

Very solid product, at least twice as heavy as the OEM product but half the price! Will be purchasing the hinge support (sold separately) in the future due to the additional weight of the tire (35"x20"). It's best to have two people help with the installation because there are a lot of adjustments to make and a lot of "mounting and removing" to be done. The third brake light can be adjusted, which is a nice touch. The photo does not do it justice; however, the product is excellent.

The spare tire portion of the installation was straightforward
5/5

The spare tire portion of the installation was straightforward. I didn't need the rear brake light (I already had a spare tire light), so I can't comment on it, but the instruction section appeared to be equally straightforward.

Sturdy

The mount replaced the OEM carrier and was installed as part of an upgrade. The process was simple: remove the old, clean/prep the surface, install the new, adjust the brake light, and mount the tire, which was easily accommodated by the 285/70R17 (33") tire.
