similar to the lugs
I had 33" tires on the stock spare tire carrier, but I used this part when I upgraded to a 35" BFG Mud Terrain. My 35 BFG spare fits perfectly.
Maybe I'm just lucky, but the one I bought and installed on my TJ fits and functions flawlessly. I haven't had any issues with it, and it's been in use for several months. I don't have any complaints.

To be safe, they were spot welded, but I believe this was excessive. Prior to that, they felt pretty solid, and I've seen a lot of people complaining about their studs spinning. They didn't pre-tape them in with a hammer like a bunch of clowns, I'm guessing. Don't be a jerk and use the nut to pull the studs through without first hammering them in. Make a good job of it.
The plates and metal structure are excellent, but the studs provided are not appropriate for their intended use. They have no way of staying attached to the plate structure when attempting to put the tire on. If you can get the tire on, there's no way the studs aren't going to spin. I tried using a vise grip on the back of the stud, but the design was so tight that I couldn't get a good grip.
Installing it was a breeze, and it performed flawlessly. The supplied lugs are about 4 threads too long, and they popped out the centers of my three lug nuts, which I am not happy about.
I went from a size of 31x10 to a size of 31x20. The size ranges from 5x15 to 33x12. My 94 Jeep YJ has 5x15-inch tires. The stock carrier was too big for the new tires. After installing, I realized that instead of buying this product, I could have simply used the longer studs that came with my original carrier, and instead of cutting off the excess length, I used washers. It was also in need of larger rubber bumpers on the tailgate, which would have been preferable to being too short. I simply double-sided sticky taped some foam rubber to the tailgate to keep the tire from rattling.
This product causes the TJ wheel to be "off set," which means it is not as pleasing to the eye (uneven).
Because I'll have to cut these off, I had to go out and buy replacement studs and lug nuts.
My Jeep Wrangler seemed to like it. I had purchased a new bumper for it, and my spare tire, which was not stock, would not fit properly. This raises it and spreads it out a little more, making it a perfect fit.
It was a smooth transition. Simple to follow instructions. No snags. After setting, the washers must be tapped off with a screwdriver and hammer. On a stock JL wheel, this fits a 12" wide tire. This item is extremely durable. For 32" wheels, there is no need for a bumper dip.
