The first issue was that the ice scraper end separated from the rest of the brush after about 10 minutes of use in the extended position. It was simple to push it back in, but the small piece of plastic that holds the parts of my scraper together does not hold them securely, and the end pops off periodically when I am holding it at the scraper end to remove snow from my car's roof. (The other end of the brush did not "pop" apart for me. )br>br>The second issue arose the second time we used the brush. Two plastic pieces cover the sharp metal edges on the side of the squeegee/brush head at the brush end. However, the plastic protective pieces are not firmly attached, and one of ours came off, exposing sharp metal edges that could scratch a car. My husband used glue to reattach it, but it remains to be seen whether it will hold. Another flaw that I should have noticed (or measured before purchasing) is that this brush does not extend as far as my previous brush, making it difficult to reach the top center of my SUV roof. The very substantial brush - br>br>is one aspect of this that I really like. My older, similar scraper/brush had a brush that was wider and thicker. That older brush, on the other hand, has held up well under heavy use for at least 8 years (except for my husband's truck, which he used because he couldn't find his own). This is something I would never buy again. I'd go to a car dealership and see what I was buying in person. As I previously stated - This one appears to be very nice, especially in the photos, but the quality details are lacking, especially for a scraper that costs $30.
br>br>It was simple to put together, but the clip that holds the telescoping end attachment in place is not secure. The instructions say to use a snow brush on that end, but you'll need to use a scraper instead because the brush end will easily come off. The opposite end snaps shut with a satisfying click.
When I first got this and used it, I was disappointed. It felt cheap right away, and I had to be careful when removing snow and ice from my truck with it. I couldn't apply the pressure I needed to scrape ice off my windows because I was afraid it would break. The bristles aren't soft enough to feel like they'll work well with clearcoat. Although the design is appealing, the materials are simply too cheap and flimsy to merit a higher rating.
In one or two swipes, the squeegee gets the job done. To keep the length more manageable, I like to use the scraper on its own. The brush/squeegee end rotates, which makes it easy to store behind the car seat. Attaching and reattaching the ends can be a challenge. It appears that the plastic will not fully close. I don't mind breaking it down because I use the pieces separately, but I wouldn't recommend doing so frequently. The plastic is most likely to degrade.
Ice scraper with a length of 2 inches. AstroAI number 47. 2 Inch Ice Scraperbr>This product is made of high-quality materials and is durable. br>I don't usually do reviews because quality seems to be a little "challanged" these days. This, however, is not the case. In a box, this is total 1980s quality. The poles are strong and fit together tightly. There are many notches on length adjusters, and they actually lock in place. They are simple to adjust. br>While the ice scraper is not inexpensive, it will scrape heavy ice and last for a long time. br>The bristles are frayed at the tip (for softness) but stiff enough to move heavy snow. The pivot adjuster is simple to use, and the head does not wobble or wiggle; it is a well-made adjuster. The rubber on the squeegee is extremely supple. There are no room for error. I don't think these are going to last very long. The engineering, execution, and material and manufacturing quality are all excellent.
There was nothing noteworthy about it. Putting it together and storing it is a pain. Something simpler would suffice, if not surpass, the task at hand. I could store it assembled and out of the way if the head articulated sideways to allow for flatter storage. A design opportunity that was not taken advantage of. br>br>Also, while the soft, insulated handle is wonderful, it is not ergonomic. The obvious reason for purchasing this item is that your vehicle is tall, you are short, or you have a large windscreen (all three are true for me). So you want to brush the snow off in a single stroke, which means re-gripping the handle on the aluminum. Prepare to graft skin if you don't have any on hand. br>br>It's so close to being perfect, but it's still so far away. br>br>My girlfriend has one with fewer features, but the head folds flat against the shaft and both sides of the handle have a small foam patch. It wasn't even close. She was genuinely enraged that I had traded with her at half the price. That should provide you with all of the information you require.
This would be a fantastic product if the swivel brush button didn't fall apart so quickly. I reassembled it with the spring inside, but it broke again about a week later while in use, and the spring was lost; I repaired it with duct tape, and it's now functional, but the brush must be kept in a fixed position. It's also quite heavy, but that wouldn't be a problem if the button had actually worked. Next winter, I'll most likely purchase a different brand.
