Questions & Answers

How do the side cameras fare in terms of vibration? Is there a limit to how much vibration they can withstand?

I'm not sure what the rating is, but they're installed in my motorhome and I've never had a problem driving with them.

Is it possible to use this system on a semi truck to get a side view as if looking through a mirror?

My RV is 31 feet long. Two were installed to supplement side mirrors, and the other two were installed in the back for backing up and rear view. The side cameras have a wide angle that provides excellent coverage. I'm no longer interested in checking my side mirrors.

Is it possible to rotate any of the camera's images 90 degrees so that they can be mounted on the side and look back while maintaining a vertical image?

Yes. It's possible to rotate them. Simply loosen the housings and adjust them to your liking before tightening them back up. You can also wire the side cameras to be triggered by your directional signals, so that the vertical image appears when you turn. This kit is an incredible bargain. I've mounted them on a plow so I don't have to look back as much, and I've become addicted to using the side cameras to check the blind spots on both sides when changing lanes. They're useful for hooking up a trailer or plow, and I use the back camera as a mirror because the jeeps' rear view has a tire in it.

Is it possible to use this set in my RV? or do you have to work exclusively on trucks?

This camera system was installed in our 2007 36-foot Class A RV. So, yes, it is suitable for use in an RV. It's tailored to their needs. We only had a backup camera that had failed, so this camera set was used to replace it. The backup and side views were installed. It performs admirably, and we are pleased with it.

There aren't many instructions
5/5

I followed all of the instructions to the letter. There aren't many instructions. I followed the instructions to the letter, and only one camera appeared on the screen. Because I couldn't find any information online, I emailed the brochure's support number. I wasn't sure if I'd get a response, but it came in less than 45 minutes. The problem was resolved as a result of their information. I even got a second email with more specific instructions, which I will share. br>It appears that there is a misunderstanding about which wires are responsible for what. I decided to share my findings after testing them all. The ground is black, and the 12V is red (the specs say up to 24V, but I only tested at 12V). The remaining colored leads are the source of the confusion. When a signal is fed in through the wire, each of them is designed to give a camera "priority," such as when a voltage is applied to the brown wire, camera 4 will go full screen and "turn off" the other cameras. In my testing, I was able to get two cameras to split screen so that two cameras were displayed while the other two were ignored. When I install the cameras in the back of my car, I plan to do exactly that- Because the cameras don't have the same 170 degree field of vision as others, I'll install two at the back of my car and connect their "priority" wires to the backup lights (so when I reverse the car, both rear facing cameras appear on the screen). br>br>So, for each camera, which color controls "priority": blue: blue: blue: blue: blue: blue: blue: blue: blue: blue: blue: blue: blue: blue: blue AV1br>White: AV2br>Green: AV3br>Orange: AV4br>Red: AV5br>Orange: Brown: AV3Brown: AV3Brown: AV3Brown: AV3Brown AV4br>br>Because the instructions say to connect Red and Brown to hot, this will make AV4 (camera 4) full screen, preventing the other cameras from connecting.

The camera system is fantastic
5/5

So far, the camera system has performed admirably. The old back-up system was replaced by a new one. I'm very happy with this system, which includes the up camera and the black and white tube monitor, as well as two side cameras and a front cam. I like how you can choose whether or not each camera is mirrored, as well as the various multiplex layouts.

For only $200, I am pleased with the quality
5/5

This is what I put in my 1990 Winnebago. For only $200, I am pleased with the quality. Because I didn't like how the buttons on the screen worked, I installed four toggle switches to switch between cameras. You'd have to hit the mode button and cycle through a bunch of different screen options to get back to the quads display, where I normally run it, after switching to full screen using the monitor buttons. It's not easy to do this while driving. When I turn off the toggle switch, the quad view returns automatically. When I turn on toggle switches 1 and 2 at the same time, the screen splits. This is particularly useful for the side cameras. I did on- off- I'm using on-switches for the side cameras so that if I decide to, I can still wire them in to work with the turn signals.

RVs will benefit the most
5/5

I was pleased with the ease with which the cameras and monitor were installed, as well as the power connection. The sleek appearance of the side view cameras, as well as the easy adjustment to "plumb" the image on the monitor, are greatly appreciated. The possibilities for screen layouts appear limitless, and tapping a camera button brings up a full-screen image of that camera. Overall, this is a great system for RVs at any price, and it's a steal! Also, the customer service was excellent and very pleasant.

For the price, this is an excellent setup
5/5

On my class A, I just finished installing this system. Everything was exactly as described and appears to work flawlessly. I have not yet taken it on a road trip, but I plan to do so soon. Customer service quickly replaced my monitor after I had a problem with it. Update: I just returned from an 1800-mile trip, and the cameras and monitor worked flawlessly. The best part is that instead of mounting the fourth camera up front, I mounted it above my rear camera to look beyond my tow vehicle, which makes it much easier to get in and out of traffic.

For a travel trailer, this works well
5/5

Updated on October 25, 2016: eRapta sent me a replacement monitor yesterday, and I was able to put it to the test today. With the new monitor, the image from all four cameras is stable and has good color. eRapta went out of their way to make sure I was happy with their product, and I appreciate it. Using one camera to look straight back and another to look down the back of my 30' trailer, I can now see close up and far away. I know I won't hit anything if I back up to the trailer parked behind mine in the storage lot. The two side cameras fit perfectly on the front of each side of the trailer, allowing me to see down the blind side of the trailer while backing into a parking spot. When traveling, I can also use the cameras as a rearview mirror to keep an eye on what's behind me. I connected the four camera leads to the trailer tongue's power cable, then ran a 30-foot 13-pin cable through my truck to the dashboard monitor, making only one connection each time I hook up the trailer. Thank you so much, eRapta, for sticking with me and helping me get this system up and running. My previous issues appeared to be the result of a bad monitor, which eRapta replaced with a slightly different one. Everything is now in working order. eRapta, thank you for your outstanding service! Also, a big thank you to Selina! br>Original Post: After installing the system with four cameras, the monitor flickers on and off, as well as the color, which is mostly black and white. I emailed toerapta@hotmail. com. com for help and received an unrecoverable failure. To install on my new trailer, I followed the simple instructions. Running all of the cables and drilling several holes took several hours. Returning the item is a scary prospect, but it may be my only option. Very let down. UPDATE (October 17th, 2016): Selena from eRapta has been helping me resolve my issues, and I needed to run a 30' long 13 pin extension to connect the cameras on the trailer to the monitor on the dashboard of my truck. The monitor on/off flicker appears to go away if I connect the monitor directly to the trailer's "Power Cord," but the color still flickers. To fix the problem, eRapta is shipping a new monitor. Selina suggested that I connect the monitor to the truck's power, but they don't have the necessary adapters. I'll keep this review up to date as I learn more about how that works. I changed my rating from one to three stars because eRapta is working to resolve the issues, and it's possible that my application isn't compatible with the system. All of the cameras have a mostly black-and-white view, which I can live with, but the on/off flicker is so annoying that I just turn the system off. I'm hoping to get this up and running as quickly as possible.
