Questions & Answers

Is there a way to start it from afar?

This model is not one of them. Remote start is available on the aps997z and aps 787z.

Is this a problem with the transmitter or with the entire system?

Transmitters are what these are. The "brain" must be wired into the vehicle's wiring harness, which necessitates a basic understanding of electrical theory and diagrams.

Selected User Reviews For VOXX Electronics Prestige APS25Z Car Alarm System

It's a very basic alarm for a reasonable price, and I've had a lot of them
3/5

I've got a lot of alarms installed. This alarm is created by Audiovox. I've owned a couple of Audiovox alarms in the past, and they're usually of decent quality, especially when compared to other household brands. The disadvantages: br>br> The remote controls are a complete waste of time. They only lasted about a month before the chrome trim on one of them began to peel away, which was disappointing. In addition, the range left a lot to be desired. br>br>The blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah If the battery has been disconnected for any reason, the alarm will sound once it is reconnected. This may not bother you, but it is disconcerting. The only horn output is for the siren, whereas many other alarms I've installed use your car's horn as well as a siren. I dislike sirens and would rather have used my horn instead. The Pros: br>br>The Pros: br>br>The Pros: br>b It came with a starter cut relay and was very easy to install. The directions were clear and concise. It's straightforward and doesn't try to be anything more than that. It has a trunk output, which I didn't use but is nice to have, and the control unit is small enough that I was able to hide it behind another control unit deep behind my dash. br>br>I bought a basic alarm and got a basic alarm, so it gets a basic rating. I replaced it about two months after I bought it because the OEM remotes that came with it had a longer range. I only lost immobilization, which I've since replaced with a passive immobilizer that disables the starter and disables the ECU's power supply. Unless you're fine with mediocre remotes or are on a tight budget, I'd recommend saving another $50 and getting something a little more robust.

Overall, it's a good alarm system with basic features
4/5

The alarm is functional and has all of the required features. br>I like that the trunk release (ground n. ) is available. The light flash relay (n. d. ) and the light flash relay (n. d. ) are two different types of relay Both modes can be operated by swapping the 2 wire pass through) functions. I like the fact that there are three trigger wires: a positive and negative door light trigger (with dimmer adjustment) as well as an instant negative trigger. br>br>My main gripe is that the installation instructions are inadequate and only accessible to approved installers. These instructions were found on a website where you could download them.

This book comes highly recommended
5/5

This alarm was a good investment for me when I installed it on my 2006 Tundra. In this case, I had to add two relays to open the driver's door. br>The instructions are very clear; the only thing I don't care for is the siren sound that plays when the lock/unlock function is activated; it's not a high-quality sound, but it's loud enough when the alarm goes off.

There isn't much help
3/5

It is strongly suggested that you hire a professional to install your system. The only issue with the system is the support, which isn't very good. It is best to go to YouTube and look for a video of a car similar to the one you want to install an alarm on and then purchase the alarm that is shown in the video. a great deal more practical.

Installation should be done by a professional
3/5

The installation instructions assume that the user has a lot of knowledge about electrical and electronic systems, so this is a sophisticated alarm at a reasonable price. Installation would not have been possible without the help of the audiovox tech line. If the option is available, professional installation is strongly advised.

I liked how solid the alarm was, but I disliked having to wire up the locks.
