The opposite is true. We are referring to the lag screw here, and not the This installation failed on Lexus GX470 and Toyota Camry. A license plate screw is nowhere near it The difference between thick and fine A screw that holds wood together. Failure of epic proportions.
A screw of this quality costs a lot. It would have been smart for me to go to home depot instead. Nevertheless, these are supposed not to rust. So in a few months, we will see how they perform. In the event that they rust, I will be returning them. Putting a $2 price tag on a screw is like screwing over the customer. No way can it be ten It costs 25 cents each to make one.
It has been two months since I installed them and I have not seen any rust. They are a bit pricey for what you're getting, but since the black frame matches the rims perfectly, I think it has been worth the money.
The reason I like black license plate screws so much is not only the color, but also the fact that they match the color of my car. They still look sturdy to me, so I will have to wait till the rain starts before I know whether they are rustproof, but when I first saw them, I was impressed by their strength and would still recommend trying them.
Four black screws were needed from my dealer to match the four license plate screws I already had. These work fine so long as you screw them in without scratching the black paint to reveal silver underneath. * I used a screwdriver, not a drill, because I was very careful. However, so far the current state of affairs appears to be good.
Be sure to cover the tip of your screwdriver with some painter's tape before you install it.
The screw doesn't provide security for the plates or secure holding, which can lead to other problems for the car. I have a BMW 750i 2014 through which these screws are listed as compatible. It will have to be replaced.
It seems that the stainless steel parts are holding up to their claim of being rustproof after a few months. I think the black plate mount looks much better with my black frame and a black frame mount.
