Questions & Answers

Are these compatible with a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport?

Catch Kit for Xprite Aluminum Hood Latches with U.S. Xprite Aluminum Hood Latches with U.S. Xprite Jeep Wrangler JK JKU 2007-2008 Flag Style This year is 2018- Wrangler JL JLU Gladiator JT - Jeep Wrangler JL JLU Gladiator JT - Jeep Wrangler JL JLU Gladiator J Design Patents

Will these fit a Jeep Gladiator (JT) from 2020?

I believe that is the case but’I’m not 100%.

The original hood rubber spacer that goes between the hood and the fender is not included with these latches. Is there anyone who can tell me if this is something they should do?

They aren't required to use the factory spacers.

What shade of blue are they? Is there any kind of finish on them?

They're black and coated in a scratch-resistant black paint, and they're incredible.

It appears to be fantastic
5/5

For the installation, there are a couple of pointers. Once installed, these hood latches are gorgeous. I was able to install them myself (I only asked my husband to keep the bottom bolts from spinning while I tightened the nuts from inside the side panel to finish faster, but other than that, I was able to do everything myself).
Pros: Just by looking at the weight, you can tell they're solid. They keep the hood in place and prevent rattles. It took less than an hour to figure out how to put them in, remove the old ones, and replace them. So far, they haven't scratched my paint, as some other reviews have claimed. It's worth noting that there are two sets of spacers included; make sure you use the one that corresponds to your model; they're labeled JK. JLbr>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using JL. There are no rules. It wasn't difficult to figure out number two, so don't worry. I recommend using the factory oem part nuts because they appear to be more durable. To reach inside the jeep and remove and install the bottom nuts, you'll need small fingers. I'm delighted to have small lady hands number four. The first time I tried to close the latches, they were extremely tight, and I had to work hard to do so. They did loosen up nicely after a few times of opening and closing. br>Tools you'll need: a small socket wrench that will fit inside the jeep's body through a tiny gap For the hood's top latch, you'll need a 10 mm screwdriver. Socket with a diameter of 13 mm (for the side).

The latches are very nice
3/5

It looks fantastic. Although the latches appear to be quite strong, I only installed them today. We'll have to wait and see. When the latch is closed, a small nub on the latch handle comes dangerously close to hitting the hood. With the kit, you'll receive two rubber pads. The JK uses one pad, while the JL uses the other, thicker pad. I used the one for the JK because that's the one I have, and the latch handle was right in the hood, and you could see how quickly it would wear through the paint in 5 minutes of driving. So, just to see what would happen if I put the JL rubber pad on the handle assembly, it spaced it far enough away from the hood that it wouldn't scratch the paint. Try it out to see if it works in your neighborhood as well. It was a pain to get to the nut next to the headlight on the inside, but I didn't have to remove any parts. I could reach in and work on it because I have smaller hands. I used a 10mm 1/4" drive universal socket with an 8"-long 8"-long 8"-long 8"-long 8"-long 8"-long 8" It was easy to remove the ten-inch extension. They're stylish and keep the hood firmly in place. I'll check to see if there's any hood movement on the highway tomorrow, but it doesn't appear to be the case. JUST IN CASE, I kept the old factory latches. These should hopefully last the Jeep's entire life. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> The hood latch on the driver's side began to rub against the hood after a few days of driving. I placed the other rubber pad, labeled JK, under the existing JL rubber pad. It shifted the latch out of the way of the hood. It's a long way away now from where it used to be. I'll keep an eye on things and report back to everyone. Update. br>br> The so-called "stainless steel" hinge pins are a waste of money. They're rusted, and I expect rust to start showing up on my fenders' paint. Let's hope not, but we'll have to wait and see. I'll take pictures and post them on my blog. Although it is still a good, solid latch, I have reduced my rating to three stars.

Good product, minor installation issue, excellent customer service; however, the rubber piece from the lower factory latch does not come with or have a way to attach it to the new lower latch
4/5

This rubber is crucial because it keeps the hood gap consistent from windshield to bumper while also preventing the hood from rubbing against the quarter panel and wearing the paint off. I'm glad I caught this before I drove too far and ruined my paint. I'll figure out a way to put a rubber in place of the factory one. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> Customer service has contacted me, and we'll talk about my issues. I appreciate how concerned they are about the products they sell and the satisfaction of their customers. br>br>Update No. 2 Jake, the manager of the KB Auto Amazon store, has given me a partial refund, which I appreciate but isn't what I was hoping for. But he is also doing what I want, which is speaking with the manufacturer about resolving this hiccup that was previously overlooked and finding a solution. So, above all, I value a company that listens to its customers and is committed to solving real-world problems.

JK 2017 sport did not work; it looks great, but the edge touches the hood
3/5

The hood has a small dent in it now. Taking them out. I experimented with a variety of adjustments and pads provided by the manufacturer. There was no cure. This would cause jeep hood to deteriorate further over time. It has a very sturdy appearance and is of excellent quality. It appears to be in excellent condition. I'm not going to risk any more harm, so I'm going back. (Some jeeps, according to reviews, work with this. ) - This is not my work. Special edition of JK Sport for 2017. br> The JK insert allows it to lay right on the paint, while the JL lifts it a little but still lays on paint after a drive. Using both together will lift it, but it will look stupid.

It's a perfect fit and a breeze to put together! The hood latches, which were purchased to replace the originals, have exceeded my expectations
5/5

We probably would not have gone out of our way to replace the "plastic" hood latches if it hadn't been for the fact that - believe it or not - For several months, squirrels had been chewing the latches to the point where they had eaten away every edge of both fasteners, and then chewed insulating wrap on cables under the hood (which had to be repaired, thankfully with insurance reimbursement). Squirrels are so annoying. We saw the Xprite Aluminum Hood Latches and decided to order them for our 2014 Jeep JK. Even though there were no instructions in the box, they were fairly simple to install, and the video and photos on the Amazon page more than satisfied that need. The finished product is fantastic!.

It's a game of chance
3/5

For the sake of comparison, I have a 2020 JLU. On 12/30/21, it was put in place. Once you've figured out how to put them together, they're quite nice. Because these do not come with any instructions, the video in the description above will be your only source of information. The rubber pads are labeled JK and JL to correspond to the Jeep you own. The passenger side latch works perfectly, but the driver side latch rubbed against the hood when closed. To keep the latch from hitting my hood, I needed to cut a strip of padding from the JK pad and add extra spacing to the latch. As you can see in the image, this is the case. After a few months of use, I'll revisit this review to provide an update. They appear to be quite attractive. Feel solid. It's a pain to set up. The only way to find out is to wait.
