Questions & Answers
The top piece that attaches to the hood can be adjusted slightly. The part of the bottom that connects to the fender isn't.
They certainly do, and they do so flawlessly. They look fantastic and perform far better than the stock latches.
They were purchased by Hubby to replace the cheap rubber latches that came standard on our Jeep Willys. We did take our Jeep up on some rough trails and felt the rubber ones, which wouldn't last long due to sunlight deterioration and extremely rough roads, and we didn't want the hood flying up while driving.
I don't think so; they're for the years 2007-2008. 2018

This is a well-made product, and I included a photo of the tools I used, which included 10mm and 13mm sockets. Getting to the bolt under the fender, as others have stated, is the difficult part. I took off the grille and tightened the bolt with a long needle-nosed pliers. Only six plastic pins hold the grille in place, making it simple to remove. You can learn how to do it by watching YouTube videos. To finish everything, it took me an hour. br>br>As for the rubber piece that sits between the hood and the fender, the set I received already had one, so I didn't have to modify anything by using the rubber from the original Jeep hood latches. br>br>Overall, I am pleased with the product's appearance and craftsmanship.
These are thick and substantial. I just finished putting them in. It took about an hour for me to complete this task. Because I didn't have a ratchet or extensions that would fit into the small gap required to install the lower section bolt, I simply removed the grill. I only removed the top black fasteners and was able to pull the front grill fascia enough to gain access to the lower bolt, which I loosen with a closed end wrench before installing with duct tape. I used tape on one side so that I could begin threading the hex bolt; it's a tight fit, but it's doable. br>It's also a good idea to have some thread lock on hand just in case. The instructions were in the form of simple illustrations. To get to the lower section bolt, you'll need to disassemble the lower hinge, which is a simple process. I hope that was clear. However, you'll notice that the kit includes three hex keys of varying sizes, indicating that everything you need to install it is included. As I previously stated, the lower assembly and getting to that lower nut on the side of the Jeep is the most difficult. br>After installation, the hood was noticeably tighter. These things aren't going to make any hoods flutter.
Because the description says stainless steel, they should be rust-free; it's a bummer that I'll have to go out and buy new ones and reinstall them!.
These latches have a lot of force behind them. When we drive down the highway, our hood no longer flutters. The lower nut, as mentioned by other reviewers, is difficult to access. I have long, thin fingers and a 1/4" drive ratchet with a swivel head. I swapped them out in about an hour, taking my time, and using the factory nuts on the upper latch portion of the hood because the new latches didn't come with flat washers and started digging into the paint as I tightened them. The hood does not have a rubber piece to prevent it from rubbing against the fender. br>br> I trimmed and glued the rubber piece to the fender that came off the factory hinge.
You shouldn't put painted metal on painted metal, according to my knowledge. I had no choice but to use the old stopper and keep it wedged between the hood and the radiator.
While getting your fingers behind the fender to hold the nut on the fender portion is difficult, it is only that. I flipped the grille out of the way to make it easier to get to the nut behind the fender half with my ratchet and hand. br>They look fantastic, and there is NO HOOD FLUTTER! No more fear of colliding with a semi on a windy highway. br>br>I saw a couple of reviews that said the rubber piece (that goes between the hood and the fenders) was missing, but mine had it, so I'm not sure if it was just a packing error? In any case, they were in my bag. br>br>I would suggest these to anyone who wants to get rid of hood flutter while also getting a stylish upgrade at a reasonable price.
This is a unique design in comparison to the others available on the market. In addition to being extremely durable, it is also extremely fashionable. According to some reviews, it lacks the rubber mold that connects the metal part of the hood to the metal part of the hood. However, it is present in this item that I have received. It appears that they paid attention to the people who reviewed it and fixed the problem, which is great.
Because of the radiator covers, it was a little difficult to get the bottom nut on the bolt. To get it started, I discovered that if you put tape on your finger and stick the nut to the tape, you can keep the nut in place without dropping it. 2 sided tape is an example of this. Holds the hood in place.
