This has to be the cheapest, ill-fitting piece of garbage I've ever had the misfortune of attempting to install. br>First, one must install their windshield header bar (I'm not sure why a Bimini top can't be designed with one built in). The door surrounds and grab handles (if applicable) must then be removed. Then comes the installation's most enjoyable part: The darn thing won't stay in the Smittybuilt windshield channel, so it'll take two or three people to install because the first side will pop out of the channel once you've walked around to the other side. To add some tension, I tried fastening the back straps, but the buckles wouldn't fit through the gap between the roll bar and the soundbar. After an hour of frustration, I decided it was time to return this piece of s***. I'm afraid I won't be able to return it to China, where it was manufactured.
The previous one lasted 6 years in the Utah Desert's spring, summer, and fall weather, where the dry, hot sun wears down everything. However, it continued to function; it simply became unsightly. It's a fantastic piece of craftsmanship with a high level of quality!.
We have a 2003 Rubicon, and installing this was a bit of a challenge, even though we had previously ordered windshield channel. It fits well, but if you have speakers mounted on the top roll bar, you'll need to remove them first. To obtain the two straps that go around the top roll bar, screw them together. We like it because it's tight and doesn't flap. br>It was well packaged, and the instructions were adequate.
It claims to fit a 2004 Jeep Wrangler, but it didn't fit properly when I received it. The straps didn't fit under or around my soundbars, and the instructions were vague. The loose straps had to be wedged between my C and my C. They'll be hidden by the top and soundbar. It didn't appear to be as smooth and taut as it did in the photos. I even went to a 4x4 specialty store, where they asked if it was the correct top.
It appears to be well-made and appealing.
It was extremely difficult to set up at first. Straps aren't all created equal, unless you want to spend an hour just attaching and detaching them.
This top has been on my TJ for over a year and has performed admirably. I chose this over the Bestop because I already owned a Smitybilt cargo net and wanted to match the black diamond.
