Questions & Answers
The Thule website has information on ordering the appropriate model fit kit and length of bar for your specific vehicle. You will also need to purchase WingBars that are able to fit your vehicle's width (go to Thule's website for details on ordering your kit). It is understandable why they sell them separately, since these are really the only pieces of this kit that are one size fits all, but I think they ought to be more clear in their description of each part! These clamps arrived a week before we needed them for a cross-sectional test of the cable Our plans had changed from moving across the country to moving across country so we still had time to buy and ship the proper fit pack (we already knew the wingbars are separate)! Despite the graphics here showcasing *all three* items in one place, you must purchase each item This means that the "fit kit" is likely about the same price as the clamp, and the bar is about the same cost as well. If you're spending a lot on this roof system and any belongings you might probably fasten to it, it would be prudent to also purchase a FOURTH item, the "key kit" so the clamps will lock down with a key in the closed position on your vehicle.
With the 711400 Thule WingBar, Kit 5046, and 710501 Evo clamp foot pack,
For the side flush rails, Foot Pack 460 R, Kit 3142, and 711400 Evo Wing Bars you would need.

There are some relevant details missing from the instructions including how to loosen the clamps before installing and what to do with them afterward. My clamps were loose out of the box, but they wouldn't fit on my SUV when I was installing my set. My discovery that they could be loosened more after over an hour of fiddling took me over an hour to reach. In the following stages, there is a fair amount of trial and error before they sit perfectly on your Those weren't as frustrating, but you'll need to be extra cautious. On the other hand, once they get going, they're The tires have been on them for 1,500 miles with a full carrier box on top, and haven't had any problems so far. They're rugged and drama-free. As the adapter sits on a foot, it can be hard to tell when the adapter is fully seated. As soon as it is installed, the "cover" doesn't cover all of Providing it with four stars because it's a four out of five Overall, this is an excellent product compared to what else is out there, but there is still room for improvement.
In the box was an used Thule clamp foot pack and there was no key. The box was correct, but inside was an used Thule clamp foot pack which was a different model with locks. My WingEVO bars that I had ordered from Amazon did not work with this item. The time I spent was a waste of time, as was the money Amazon spent.
In fact, the installation goes smoothly, but the measurements are somewhat difficult to nail down. There is some finagling to do to get them just.
It appears to be well built, but the lock feels weak to me. If someone were to really pop off the cover, I doubt it would feel as safe even if only using one key.
Exactly what I was looking for. Then I periodically check to make sure it is secure and leave it on the vehicle. As of right now, it is still safe. The complaints haven't been registered.
This is what I bought to replace my EVO wing bars, and it works So far, they have held on tight and I haven't had any problems with them.
I got it at a discount so it.
