In order to fix the water/rust problem others have noted, I simply coated it with truck bedliner spray and used silicon to fill in the joints. Likewise, a new MaxxHaul decal was added to replace the peeling one.
Some reviews mentioned rusting, but I saw their pictures and noticed they did not install rubber sleeves to protect the screws and It is likely that some water will get into the system if you leave them off. My Jeep was easy to install and the instructions were easy to follow. Installation took about 45 minutes. There is no movement at all and it is solid. Exceptional construction and a great deal at this price! The last photo shows the rubber sleeves that cover the screws and.
As I read the reviews, I went ahead and bought this for my 2013 Outback anyway. I sprayed Plasti-Kote fluid liberally on all the welds as soon as I removed the kit from the box for assembly The dip is for preventing rust. The assembly could not have gone any better. I also sprayed the screw holes, gasket, and screw after they were all installed with WD-40. I then detached the screws and gaskets from the wind shield thing and did the same thing. The crossbars fit nicely on the factory crossbars. Some people said they had a hard time getting it to sit in the center of their Outback, but I didn't have that Do the brackets and crossbars fit perfectly with the universal brackets? It's designed to span a wide range of wall thicknesses, so brackets are made wide. Having a universal fit usually means a bit of fudge without compromising the integrity of the bracket. was able to tighten and solidify all the parts. I have a cargo bag and this will be ideal for it. It looks really cool. As a final step, I did some waterproofing on the decal to help prevent Nobody seems to care. As I always say, function is more important than form. Keeping the rust from forming was my intention.
Using the product is easy, it is sturdy and it is nice to have. I have a problem with it because the welds are not all sealed so water seeps in, and shortly after it seeps out, it is all rusted. Rust colored water spots are left on the roof due to the leak.
In all, the installation was really quick, it took about 15 minutes from opening the package to having it ready to use. In summary, for the price, this rack can hold up to 150 pounds, and honestly for that price, you can't go wrong. Probably 30 lbs is the weight of the rack. Honestly, the craftsmanship of this product is fantastic, but the screws for assembly are a bit small, so if longevity is important, drill your own holes for the front half and attach it to the rear half with thicker bolts. It should be noted that since the knobs are small, I advise that if you want the rack to last long, that you run to Home Depot and give it a quick makeover. It was not too flimsy after assembly, and the rack had a good weight to it. Kudos there for that. The kit fits perfectly on the front of my 2001 Toyota 4Runner. The light bar cannot be mounted to a side mount of a 42" light bar. Therefore, if you are looking for a light bar that will fit on this, you will need one between 28" and 32". Overhang is not a concern since the frame is 32". In relation to the light bar, it was a mistake by me, not by.
It is an outstanding value for the money. It had to be re-written It's not a big deal to drill pilot holes in the lower tubes. The bars are non-adjustable). I am unable to find a word for it. As you can see in the pictures, The only purpose of this vehicle is to take me to and from our camp, which is 25 miles one way at less than 40 mph. The joints between the tubes and screws were sealed using black silicone. Used the rubber washers that came with it, but not the washers that came with If it had been painted after assembly and fully assembled, it would have been a 5 star product. No difference in shipping cost, and labor is very cheap.
Just to make you aware, the cross bar spacing is what I mentioned earlier. From center to center, the size is 5 inches.
Recently, I used this product to drive 800 miles from my home in the mountains to Florida. I was able to carry my roof top bag along with all my As a result, I removed the factory sticker and added decals from some of my road trip stops. The only reason I rated it a four star is because by the end of my one-week vacation, I noticed the RUST everyone says this airline has. My hobby is DIYing, so when I get free time on a sunny day, I'll go into the backyard and clean it up with a green scuf pad, then paint it black and spray a clear coat to protect it even further. I wasn't impressed with the quality, but for the price it does what it says and installation could not have been easier all I had to do was adjust my roof bars to the correct distance and it was operational in no time.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that there is no styrofoam in the packaging, just bubble wrap. The result of this was that one of the tubes wasn't round and needed to be bent back into shape to be able to be put The rest of it, I am in love with.
