Worked like a charm. Standing between the sides of the truck bed, it will be visible from the front and the back. This would work like a barrier. I use it to hold stuff in place and prevent it

Because the exact bar costs $20 at Home Depot and I was shocked to learn this before I ordered and used it, I gave it a 1 star. I think it is a great tool overall. However, I haven't tried it yet, but I think a heavy enough object could bend the brakes if it hits it with enough force if I hit the brakes hard enough. It's a good idea to stack things against it so that there's no room for things to take off. The rest of the program is pretty straightforward. When the handle is fully open, it can be slid in It locks it in place when the handle fully closed, and you ratchet it when the handle is in the middle. Design that is well done. Possibly one made of thicker steel is what I would like to see.
This is the second order of two that I placed on October 4th. Pulling it out from the box on November 24th was the first time I used it. I was unaware that the ends of both were off when I folded them. My efforts to attach the bolt through the pole to reach the nut inside, which is hard to reach, have been a total waste of time. Finally I found an ice pic and stuck it thru the hole to try and hold the nut in place to attach the bolt. It is probably better that I called Customer Service as soon as I opened the site, but I thought I might be able to attach the files and be done. It seems to be a very solid product, and I used one this past weekend without a problem, until I took it down and one of the ends popped off. I called Customer Service, not wanting to spend hours again trying to fix the issue, and the lady was extremely understanding and helpful. She said she would send a replacement right away. Had I taken care of this earlier, I would have saved myself a lot of time. When the pads stay on, you will most likely enjoy using the device. It also seems to be a very strong machine. However, I think calling Customer Service is better than visiting the store. Thank you so much for taking care to send me replacements, and making an effort to resolve the problem.
There is something klunky about the ratchet system that makes it almost impossible to install these things. It is a blood sucking device. A person I wish worst of all on would not want to go through this. The program is installed now, but I may have to remove it or move it if I need it in the future.
When I was traveling I had to break in half 2 of these purchases I had purchased one after the other. While trying to remove the vehicle from the truck, the ratchet does not work after being tightened down. If you had a 2x4 and some wedges, you could stand tall. If it didn't work, at least it wouldn't cost so much.
Since I requested some type of diagram and/or instructions about the release mechanism (I have yet to receive the instructions, so I am left to guess. In order to unlock the mechanism in an easy way, even a 70 year old (which is my age) should be able to do so without any difficulties. Due to no instructions that I could see, I had a tough time removing the bar. In the end, it was pretty much a guesswork exercise. At the bare minimum, a set of directions at the bare minimum would have been extremely helpful as I could not recall exactly what I did to get the item released. It was the only complaint I had. In summary, the product is good and does the job it was intended to do.
Items can be held to the end of the bed so I can easily reach them when I need I found the bar to be a bit harder to attach than I expected, but the bar works well and is very sturdy.
I had to learn how to use the latching mechanism for the first time, but once I figured it out, it was quite easy to use.
This product should be used in an area where you can stand up, with a person to hold it in the correct position. This is a very, very difficult item to use in a small space, on your own. As I bought it for a specific purpose, it won't work. I would like to see the engineer that designed it stand on his back and hold it over his head while he utilizes the device.
