Selected User Reviews For BougeRV Car Roof Rack Cross Bars for 2019-2022 Toyota RAV4 with Side Rails, Aluminum Cross Bar Replacement for Rooftop Cargo Carrier Bag Luggage Kayak Bike Snowboard Skiboard
Identical to the original Toyota crossbars in appearance and feel. Installing it was a breeze. All of the necessary tools are included. All for less than a third of the cost of the original Toyota crossbars. When used in conjunction with the Thule Force XT cargo box, it's fantastic.
I got the kit today and got it up and running in no time. Everything came together beautifully, and the fit is incredible. I was expecting to have to adjust the cross bar attachment bolts to ensure a good fit with the vehicle's mount bolts, but everything went together perfectly. The instructions for attaching the fittings to the cross bars are a little lacking, but it's not a big deal. It's intuitive in any case, but those who aren't mechanically inclined might find it difficult to understand. I'm very happy with the fit and finish, as well as the overall appearance. Excellent work. As other reviews have stated, it did not appear to be cheap to me. It certainly looks as good as, if not better than, the factory kit, which costs over $400 if my memory serves me correctly. I'm the proud owner of a 2020 Limited Hybrid.
br>I had to improvise by using thread locker glue to hold 1 (of 4) bar screws in place (hopefully this won't cause any problems). br>br>On one side of the bars, the metal "guides" (for the car attachments) were bent (but this did not cause any issues). br>br>Installation was simple, but the instructions aren't very clear, so you'll have to read between the lines a little. br>It would be fantastic if there were better instructions. br>br>Plastic covers are mostly fine, but one of the bars isn't quite right - As a result, pressing on one side causes the opposite side to pop, and vice versa. br>br>The plastic cover "locks" are easily broken; one was already broken when I unpacked it, and the second broke as soon as I turned the key to unlock it. I was able to clue back that one (and since I won't be removing the cover all the time, I shouldn't have any problems), but not the one that had already been repaired. I simply reinstalled the lock without actually locking it. br>br>Overall, it appears to be well-made and durable - I like how it makes the car look and, of course, how practical it is. br>If it weren't for those minor flaws, I would have given it a 5-star rating. a 5-star rating.
I was very pleased with how simple it was to set up. Only one star deducted because of the lengthy shipping process. br>Pros: Every item has a clear label on it. Because the back is higher than the front, it is necessary. It is acceptable to follow instructions. They did, however, include a card with a QR code for a YouTube installation video. The price is reasonable. All of the necessary tools are included. Durable.
Cons: It took a little longer than anticipated for the package to arrive. Important to watch the YouTube video, which is a little dated and uses an older model, but is understandable. Make certain to look for the 2019-2020 calendar. The other video from 2019 is out of date. Instructions included in the package could be made more clear. br>br>I agree with the sentiments expressed by others: Plastic locks will not prevent forced entry, and the hex tool's short end is too long to tighten screws while on the roof. Overall, I am very pleased. br>br>.
Pros: It appears to be well-made and simple to set up. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. I was missing some hardware, and one of the bolts they provided attempted to cross thread the hole due to its poor quality. Fortunately, I realized right away, and I didn't have to deal with a bigger problem. br>br>I was missing one locking washer (which the company said they would send; for now, I used a regular locking washer) and their bolt wanted to cross thread on one of the four corners. Their bolts are relatively inexpensive, but they are ill-fitting. This is a risk because there are no clearly defined threads. After their bolt began to cross-thread, I had to purchase my own higher-quality bolt in order to insert that corner. On my car, I'm threading the receiver end. Overall, the cross bars are satisfactory, and I am satisfied, but having two issues with the hardware, which is, in my opinion, the most important aspect of the product, leaves something to be desired.
When tying things like paddle boards to them, you have to decide whether you want to go left or right, and then you have to reach halfway across the roof to tie a secure knot. Moronic! br>br>Now I'm noticing that almost every other rail I pass is flat. That is, without a doubt, the appropriate strategy. br>br>Buy flat and save time and money by not wasting your time and money on this sturdy but poorly designed convex product.
I'm glad I went ahead and bought the BougeRV roof racks for my brand new 2021 Rav4 Prime. br>They fit perfectly and were very simple to install. It took me about 30 minutes to install them by myself. br>The cross bars came in a very secure package, with clear instructions, and they are very sturdy. The best part was that each rail and end piece were labeled LH and RH on the front and back, making installation nearly foolproof. These will not work unless you have roof rails on your Rav4. br>The cross bars were about half the price of the OEM Toyota cross bars, and I think they look great. The only difference is that these have a plastic lock, whereas Toyota's have a real key. br>I would recommend these to anyone who wants to add cross bars to their Rav4 without paying dealer prices.
We recently purchased a Rav4 Prime and wanted to use the Yakima roof basket that came with our previous vehicle. You can always use more space for long trips or quick trips to the recycling center with a large number of boxes, and this solves that problem. The brackets appear to be quite sturdy, and the installation was very simple. The following are the only concerns I have: 1) the plastic locking mechanism will not prevent theft and may fail over time; I wish there was a locking metal connector as an option; 2) the gap between the rails is just too big for our previous Yakima Load Warrior basket, so we had to buy the extension. The load warrior was supposed to fit according to the reviews, but it doesn't. Even with those two flaws, it's still a great value for money and offers the extra storage, travel, and hauling flexibility that's needed.
