What is the best way to use these to create a rack on Promaster?

If you look at the photos in the gallery, you can see how they are installed. All necessary hardware is included in the kit, as well as instructions. The following is a quick rundown of the procedure: 1. br>br> Locate mounting points on your ProMaster's roof. Two 5/16" carriage bolts should be inserted over the post to slide the inner part of the roof mountbr>adapter over it. When the adapter is put together, the slots on the adapter must be closest to the roof's outside edge. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br Place the roof mount adapter's outer part over the carriage bolts, with the slots facing the van's roof's outside edge. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. Place roof rack mounts (or whatever you're trying to mount) over the roof rack adapter's carriage bolts. Thread the washers, lock washers, and nuts onto the carriage bolts in a loose manner. Done!

The bolts are ridiculously short! The mounts are sturdy, but the bolts aren't long enough to accommodate the washer and nut that come with them

I probably should have double-checked before taking off work and gathering all of my tools and enlisting the help of a friend. br> I'm not sure how they didn't account for the thickness of the roof mount, let alone a bracket, given that this is the intended purpose.
