Questions & Answers

Where did it come from?

Plastic is what this is. They are durable enough to do the job and they are

A reviewer pointed out that my garage door has a "C" channel design that may prevent the attachment from working What do you think about that?

It is a question for the vendor of the product

Genie Relia - will this fit ?

Those simple metal brackets that attach to the angled metal pieces that ensure the door is lifted to the belt or chain are very easy to install. You don't need to use a special type of opener to use this. Previously, I had an old Genie and just replaced it with a new Chamberlain, without any issues. Here's a picture that I could show you if there was a picture attached.

It works like a charm
5/5

The following modifications have been made. There was a burglary in my neighborhood where someone's garage door was opened and a bicycle Apparently, the thief used what is known as the "six second garage door opener method" in order to gain entry. We called the local garage door company and found something for $95 at their store. The item met my criteria, it was cheap, looked effective, and was cheap, even though there were some negative reviews saying that it was not fitted. The Liftmaster U channel did not fit well at all with my product. There was a twisting motion on the side and it almost fell. I'll figure it out no problem. My first step was to heat up the plastic U bracket on my stove (carefully) and bend it out a bit so that it would completely fit inside my My next step was to recycle the worthless plastic push pins and find While I mounted the shield according to instructions, it was still too flimsy. I then drilled two 1/4" holes near the center of the shield and through the bracket, holding the shield parallel to the garage door (see photos), and I threaded two 1-inch long carriage bolts through the shield and the bracket. It just took a few turns to tighten them down. This is the perfect fit for you. As a result of removing the outside bolts, they were not needed. There is no way for the shield or bracket to twist or slip because of the new bolts that hold them tight to the U channel. It is important to cut off the long handle cord so the shield covers the handle properly. While I can reach it, you should have a plan for rescuing yourself in case of an emergency. If you look at the shield you could probably use a modified pie pan as the shield and make the bracket yourself and save about $15, but then you wouldn't have the Garage Door Armor label. I wish you all the best!.

If cheap plastic is used, it wouldn't prevent access to the spring that it is intended to do
3/5

I was robbed by someone using the 6 seconds method to get into my garage. There was some discussion about this solution, and it seemed reasonable. I was able to fit it on my front door, but it didn't seem to protect against the type of attack it claims to. Once the installation is complete, there is a path to the spring that is clearly visible. My surprise was that the entire thing is made out of plastic, not very durable, and the "screws" provided are actually plastic push tabs that probably would not last having been It was necessary for me to cut down the shield in order to fit it It wouldn't have prevented the type of attack that I suffered, and as I mentioned it wouldn't have prevented this. Unfortunately, I cannot return it because I had to cut it down as a result of having to install it. Although I have tested it using the same method they used to break in, I cannot secure it as this method did not.

I can't use the product with my new Chamberlain B970 garage door opener because Customer Service is poor
3/5

It is stated on the Garage Door Armor website that a bracket will be sent out that will be able to accommodate After three attempts to reach Garage Door Armor, no response was received. Save yourself the grief and don't buy Garage Door Armor. Their product is crap, and their customer service is awful.

If you are planning to use it for a garage door, make sure it is suitable
3/5

To begin with, my package was packaged badly, with part of an envelope taped with a ripped up piece of corrugated cardboard. There was no care taken to protect the product during While the plastic shield is of good quality and should do its job in preventing someone from fishing for the emergency release cord or engaging the garage door's emergency release mechanism, it is not that high-quality. Due to the slot on the bracket being too narrow, the bracket that attaches to the shield did not fit over the arm of the garage door. If the company provided an option for the width of the slot in the bracket, the issue could easily be resolved. Basically, everything in the kit was useless at this point. If you don't mind using zip ties to solve this problem, then you can get around the problem. There were four of us at the time, and it held Despite the weather outside, the garage door opens and closes with no problems. For this item, it is not recommended that you buy it unless you are certain the bracket will fit you or that it will fit.

I like how it works
5/5

This garage door opener is an easy to install, effective design, just make sure that the arm connecting your garage door motor to the garage door is narrow, about a quarter inch I think it will fit well in an inch. Obviously, there will be some models that won't fit, but you can find out which openers aren't compatible with it by checking.

I am so disappointed - Spending money on this was a waste
3/5

It's a piece of trash - On the lift arm of my garage door, I cannot fit this unit. I would rather spend my money on something more meaningful. It was too late for me to return it because I waited too long to try to install it. Just one year old is my top of the line Overhead Door/Marantec opener. There may be an older unit for which this is intended.

When installed, it looks and functions the same as a much more expensive system.
