Questions & Answers

Is it still possible to use the factory trailer hitch?

No, it's equipped with a trailer hitch, but you can still use your own wiring.

Is it possible to use this bumper with a stock tire without any modifications?

If you use an extension to keep the tire from hitting the bumper, it will work.

I keep seeing that the bumper needs to be modified. Is this something that Smitty Built has addressed, or are they continuing to ship a bumpet that does not fit?

I didn't have to make any changes to mine, and it fit perfectly the first time.br>2007 Jeep Jk

What is the best way to hook trailer chains? Obviously, you won't be able to use the d- I don't see an opening on the bumper's base for that, and I don't see any rings for it. ?

You can see an oval opening on either side of the hitch if you zoom in on the fifth photo. My regular hooks fit in those holes perfectly.

Fits perfectly, has a great appearance, and is simple to put together
5/5

The rear bumper is extremely attractive. I spent more time removing the old bumper than putting this one on. It took another pair of hands to hold it up while I tightened the bolts by hand, but after that it was smooth sailing. It was necessary to remove the stock rear tow hooks in order to install the frame brackets, but the end result is fantastic! br>br>The bumper is heavy and sturdy, and I was able to tow my small trailer with it. No rust and no damage from shipping! Perfect fit for my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock edition 2 door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. You'll need an adapter to add more spacing if you're using the stock tire carrier because the spare tire will now hit the bumper. I had no problems because I used an aftermarket tire carrier; I just needed to tweak it a little.

Five out of five stars
5/5

It's solid and nice. Welds that are of high quality. In the paint, there are no bare spots. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I was rear-ended three weeks after the installation. My bumper and her front end are shown in the photos. The debate, I believe, was won by my bumper.

Very well made, and the finish is fantastic! First, this bumper is A LOT more heavy duty than the cheap ones on EBay (twice the shipping weight) and the black finish looks fantastic! br>You won't be able to use your stock wheel as a spare because of the offset, which causes it to hit the bumper

Place your order for the EAG 07- You can find an 18 Jeep Wrangler JK Spare Tire Relocation Mounting Bracket on Amazon, and it will fit fine; however, you will need to open up the four middle hitch mount holes in the bumper before installing it, or you will be unable to open your tailgate due to the bumper's height.

It's a bumper that's extremely tough and long-lasting
3/5

It's a bumper that's extremely tough and long-lasting. It appears to be fantastic. The fit, on the other hand. Not without a few tweaks and a few extra pairs of hands. Because of the required modifications, it took a lot longer to install than I had anticipated. I have a 2016 JKU, and to get it to line up properly, I had to widen the existing holes in my frame on the passenger side. Only three of the four center bolts lined up, so I had to drill a new hole for the fourth one, and I had to flip the plate on the driver's side upside down to get it to line up. After that, I had to take off my spare tire because the tailgate wouldn't close completely with it on (I only have stock 30's). I've ordered a spare tire relocation bracket, which should solve the problem. I really like it now that it's all set up. But holy wow, I was hoping for a simple plug-and-play installation.

When my second one arrived, I fell in love with it
4/5

My first one arrived battered and looked as if it had been returned by someone else, so I had to have it replaced. However, when I received my replacement, I fell in love with it! It weighs a ton! If you don't have three people, you'll need at least two. When it says to drill out the holes where the hitch is, DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T DON' I already had the holes in place and figured it was just in case you didn't have a hitch. In fact, it's widening the gaps. There isn't much room to maneuver, so make those holes at least as big as they suggest. You'll save a lot of time by not having to wiggle the bolts through.

On a 2017 Jeep Wrangler, this is a solo installation
5/5

For a 100 pound bumper, the seller's packaging was excellent. Styrofoam, bubble wrap, and a sturdy cardboard box A 2017 Jeep Wrangler was fitted with this. It was just me, myself, and I, so I used the box it came in (as seen in the photo) as a nice platform to do the installation myself. It was simple to install and didn't require any drilling. br>br>The only change I made was to allow the 31x10 to close the tail gate. It has a 50 psi tire. The back of the bumper was struck by the tire. So I added two washers to each of the top two spare tire mounting posts and five washers to the bottom post, canting and holding the tire out just enough for the tailgate to close with about 1/2" between the tire and the back of the bumper. br>br>Also, once I removed the OEM bumper, I discovered it was entirely made of plastic. In a rear-end collision, I don't see how it could possibly protect you. This bumper is not only attractive, but it also provides an additional layer of protection.

The bumper was great, but it needed to be tweaked a little
4/5

Install on a JKU from 2015. I'm happy with the bumper in general. br>br>The goods:br>br>br>br>br>br> It's a good bumper that looks good and was well-packaged. If it was truly "bolt on" for my application, I would have given it five stars because of the price and product. In the end, it was worth it for a little more than $200 and some extra weekend time in my garage. The disadvantages: br>br> The curse of the gen 1 smittybilt has struck. Because one of the four hitch bolts did not line up, the installation required some tinkering and fabrication. I eventually ditched the muffler and got it to work with a lot of leverage, cursing, and a drill.

Excellent Enhancement – It's best if two people install it
5/5

I already own a Smittybilt spare tire mount, so I was familiar with their products and quality, which influenced my decision to replace the bumper. It's a significant upgrade over the thin plastic stock "bumper" and comes at a great price. It doesn't come with D rings, so remember to get those if you want to match your Jeep's color scheme. br>Installation is simple; simply remove your old bumper and follow the instructions. hitch for towing It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes, there's nothing difficult to reach, and no special tools are required (a wratchet and some open/box-related tools are all that's needed). (wrench ends). It will be MUCH easier to install the new bumer if you have a second person to assist you, even if it is just to hold it in place while you start the first bolts. With the help of some jack stands or even the box the bumper comes in, you can do it yourself. I had someone take about one-third of a pound of meat. It took me 2 minutes to simply hold the bumper while I installed the first bolt, and that was the end of it. Is it true that the total installation time was around 40 minutes? Not long. br>It's also a lot easier to clean than the old plastic bumper, which was a pain to get rid of. There's a lot of bang for your buck here!.
