I have a 2000 Silverado and wish I had known about these before I replaced the tailgate stricker bolts. I couldn't tell where those were worn out, but they didn't have the plastic sleeve any longer. The stricker bolt swap didn't work, and the tailgate rattled and wouldn't close completely. So, if you're thinking about changing out your stricker bolts, start with these bumpers. I wish I could have done it.
These will fit a 2008 Sierra perfectly. From 07 1/2 to 13, it should be the same. Another person mentioned that he trimmed it down for his 08, but I don't think that was necessary. I simply popped my old one off the bracket (I only had one, hence the purchase) and slid the new ones on. With a firm push, I was able to close the tailgate perfectly. I then pushed the tailgate in and lifted the handle to open it without difficulty. Although the price for two tiny molded rubber pieces is a little high, it is still the best deal I could find.
I was skeptical about these rubber things stopping the clunking sounds of a loose tailgate when I bought them for my 1999 Chevrolet Silverado truck. But, was I mistaken? They do stop the tailgate from clunking and they work. Granted, they are a bit pricey for a small piece of rubber, but they fit perfectly and are very simple to install. My tailgate didn't have them, so I thought, "Well, let's see. " I drove the truck through some of the roughest terrain I'd ever seen in my town, and it didn't rattle once.
This is the best accessory I've ever purchased for my well-used Sierra. When I bought the truck, there was some foam tape (hardware store stuff) between the tailgate and the bed to keep it quiet. Nothing, however, compares to the results of these. It reminds me of a manufacturing plant. When you hit a pothole on a bumpy road, you won't hear anything. If you're going to use your truck for work, keep in mind that GM's design isn't ideal. If you drag tools, chains, or anything else out of the bed, these can easily slip off.
I couldn't tell the difference between the OEM version and the one I removed in terms of quality, not that there was anything wrong with the originals except that they were 19 years old. Why not replace them, I reasoned? There was no rattling before or after the installation. It was a little difficult to remove my old ones. It's useful to have a small flathead screwdriver on hand. Installed on a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 HT short bed truck. I'm guessing they'd fit 99 percent of the time.
My tailgate would rattle and make all kinds of noises, and I tried everything I could think of to fix it, but nothing worked. I looked on the internet and found people who had replaced these and had reported that the noises had stopped. I didn't realize they were needed because mine were missing when I bought the truck. So I ordered these, re-adjusted my tailgate to its original position, and installed them, and the noises were gone!.
These fit perfectly on a 2004 Silverado 2500HD, though they don't look exactly like the worn-out stock tailgate bumpers. There is no rattling or movement when the tailgate closes. They're quite expensive for a couple of rubber chunks, but they appear to be made of high-quality materials. If it proves to be durable for at least a few years, it will receive a five-star rating; I will update my review if their performance changes.
My 2001 Sierra 1500HD had a terrible rattling noise, which I fixed by putting electrical tape on the latches where the tailgate closes (a great redneck solution for making it tighter), but the main source of the rattling was the lack of bumpers. My tailgate is as tight as it was the day I bought the truck after I replaced these in about 3 minutes. INSTALL THESE IF YOUR TAILGATE RATTLES AND YOU WILL BE SO HAPPY!.
