The product is great and I used them several times on my off-road adventures in the desert and on remote lakes to help get my 6k lb suv unstuck from mud and sand. I was skeptical at first, but they did help me out several times. There was no doubt I had to dig a bit and it was tiring, but at this price, having traction boards that can remove my full-size SUV was more than satisfactory.
I think this is a pretty good collection Strong enough to hold the weight of a truck over a long hole, but not enough to cross over a large hole with them. This gave us extra time to dig ourselves out of several muddy ruts.
As a result, I opted for the X-Trax instead of Max Trax because when I read about how much you really use them, I couldn't justify spending $300 for a product that I might only use once or twice! I love these bulls and they look fantastic! However, I had some bolts and screws lying around that worked just fine since I had not bought the hardware as well.
These are what I used for a 2004 sprinter which is loaded to be about 7k pounds, which is extremely light for a truck. My experience using these has been excellent and I have used them four times in the past. There are cracks and tattered edges all over my first gear, and there are no nubs on many areas (my first gear is fairly high, so when I slip, I melt the nubs within a fraction of a Although I am not abusing the mats, I am driving as carefully as I can without losing traction, which happens fairly quickly with a high first gear and an open differential. I saw that they have a year warranty, but I did not use them until outside of that period of time. As a result, they have paid for themselves, but if you expect to use them more than once, it would be better for convenience, logistics, and the environment to buy a long-lasting.
It has worked very well for me to use these recovery boards in sand several times. Despite being used as a leveling ramp under my Ram 2500, it has not been damaged. Later I attempted to use these in subzero temperatures (25F) for a snow recovery operation. Likewise, the boards cracked and shattered under the weight of a considerably lighter truck (a Nissan if you plan to employ them in a warmer climate, it should not pose a problem. When you might be using them in the cold, however, you should look for something else.
