I've found that Rupes yellow foam "Fine" pads are the best for my needs. br>br>I primarily use these for an all-in-one solution. On my Rupes and other DA polishers, I use only one cleaner/polish/wax product in a professional setting. br>I've used fine and finishing polishes, as well as a compound, on rare occasions. In every area, the pads are equally capable. br>They're adaptable and work well on all but the most difficult-to-finish paint surfaces. In those cases, the problem can be solved by using a softer Rupes white pad. br>br>They have a great feel to them, and I like how the pad flares out towards the contact surface. This eliminates the possibility of accidentally bumping the backing material or even the plate against a surface. br>The pad is thick enough to provide a slight cushion and will absorb some product, but it does a better job than others at keeping product on the work surface. They're firm enough to withstand moderate to heavy pressure when needed, and they don't fold or warp like other brands have. The foam does not separate from the backing material, which remains attached to the backing plate. Furthermore, when used, the foam does not crumble or dust. br>These run cooler than other brands that don't have a central air hole. If cost is an issue, consider the following: br>br> During a job, I frequently use compressed air to blow the pad surface clean, and I always wash the pads afterward. br>Per pad, I go through about 60 of these use/wash cycles. br>Sixty is the number. This is with a 21mm (long throw) DA polisher, which can be hard on pads. Excellent pads, excellent pads, excellent pads, excellent pads, excellent pads, excellent pads, excellent pads, excellent pads, excellent pads, excellent pads, excellent pads, excellent pads, outstanding.
I use these on a daily basis in my detail shop. I occasionally experiment with other brands, but these have been the most popular in my store. I use these with Sonax Cut Max and have never had a problem with them. Just remember to clean them frequently while using them. For a sedan with minor paint flaws, two pads should suffice. The cost is high, but the quality is well worth it.
Please exercise caution. They aren't holding up as well as the last pair I bought. I'm not sure why these have a beveled edge, but they do. The first set I bought, which is the same brand, density, and color, does not have a beveled edge and is in much better shape. The set with the beveled edge isn't up to snuff.
To complete the project, lake country pads were required.
I use the Utilice to clean cars and give them a similar finish, and then I use a pad to finish the job. I'm going to use the white pad to apply the polish.
Cleaning pads were used to remove hard water spots from a car's interior. The fact that there aren't any swirl marks is the cherry on top.
Good.
