Questions & Answers
This should be compatible with m205.
The pads are made to apply and remove wax and polish directly on the paint. I'll lightly wipe with a microfiber cloth after buffing with the pad. Although I believe they are available, I have never needed to use terry cloth or another type of bonnet.
The Power Pack is sold as a package that includes the microfiber and other accessories. However, this is just the pad on its own.
It ought to suffice. I've only used it on car paint, but I see no reason why it couldn't be used to polish paint on fiberglass, gelcoat, or even a recreational vehicle. (I'm assuming you're using an orbital polisher to restore shine.) so that heat build-up isn't an issue)
Selected User Reviews For Meguiar’s 6" DA Foam Polishing Disc – Dual Action Polishing Pad Enhances High Gloss – DFP6
These pads are fantastic for putting the finishing touches on my paintings. My corvette is black, which means the paint is extremely hard and will show every scratch. As a finishing pad, it performs admirably. They are my favorite. I've done a few other cars as well, and they've all turned out great. I've been using Meguiar's finishing compound (205) and it's been great so far. Apply a few small dots of whatever polish you're using to the pad's outer edge. br>br>The important thing is to replace these pads on a regular basis. The pad is responsible for the majority of the work, and it will become embedded with paint debris. More compound will simply increase the cut while decreasing the fineness of the polish cut. br>br>That's really the only drawback; I don't think washing these makes a difference. I've tried hand washing, soaking, machine washing, a variety of soaps, water soaking, and other methods, but a new pad simply works better and leaves a nicer polish. The best option is to use an air compressor to go overkill with your blowout. br>br>At the risk of sounding like a shill, I'm confident that this pad will perform admirably. On softer paint, this is probably a good option for a one-step product. To avoid blasting through paint, always test your speed, pressure, and compound amount on a safe panel. br>br>I'll be using these pads for the rest of my life.
Works great with my Black and Decker 6" Random Orbit Polisher, which I modified by adding Velcro to the face. I would strongly suggest it.
I discovered too late that I had paid for the name (Mequiar's) - Harbor Freight sells polishing discs that are thicker and of comparable quality for half the price. not the item itself.
After several years of use, I've discovered their sweet spot. Depending on my desired results and the paint surface, I can use a variety of polishes, cleaner waxes, and even compounds with them. br>br>They're simple to wash and dry, and the foam and backing material hold up to dozens of washes. br>br>One thing to keep in mind: These were made for dual action polishers with a shorter throw/orbit, not for those with a longer throw. br>These were created by Meguiars to be used with their MT300 DA and similar (Porter Cable, etc. ) products. br>br>The life of these pads is shortened by long throw machines. Please hear me out. br>br>After using them on my Rupes 21 Mark III, I noticed the foam beginning to tear where the edge of the polisher backing plate attaches to the pad's black backing material. This happens after about ten complete average-sized vehicles have been used. The pad's contact surface and black backing material are both in good condition. br>With the longer throw machine, the extra heat and relatively violent rotation isn't how they were intended to be used. br>Even after the tearing, the pads can be used for another five minutes. 10 (or more) complete vehicles, but careful removal of the pad from the backing plate is required.
This pad appears to be well-made and works well. Because of its low profile, it is very easy to clean and is very effective. Because it aids a beginner by lowering the chance of error, the space on the edge is lengths above other pads. It produces a smooth as glass and ultra-gloss finish when used in conjunction with M205 polish. It works perfectly. So far, I haven't had any complaints about these pads. If I come across anything new, I'll post it here.
It's way too expensive. I used other brands from a local store that were much less expensive, and there was no difference in performance polishing my fiberglass RV between this and other less expensive products.
I used 3M rubbing compound on my 17-year-old truck, then polished with a different disc. The truck now looks like it was just bought! It's a well-made disc that cleans up quickly.
Before applying ceramic coatings or sealers, use a high-quality pad to polish the paint.
