Selected User Reviews For Griot's Garage 11263 3" Wax Pads (Set of 3)
I tried to clean all of the leftover sealant out of the foam, but it wasn't enough, and some of it dried up inside. It's right in the price range where buying a new one for each application isn't too expensive, so if you can afford it, I recommend it. Otherwise, look for something that doesn't absorb a lot of water, according to user reviews.
So here's how I'd rate myself on a scale of one to ten. 10 points for awesome, 1 point for don't use or buy: br>Durability (does the pad retain its shape after repeated uses, i. e. does not flake, gunk up, or fall apart): 10br>Application Flexibility (can the pad be used for multiple purposes): 10br>Absorption (the amount of product absorbed by the pad): 7br>Spread (the amount of product spread by the pad): abrasiveness (can it be used for heavy cutting): 10br> 1 **This pad is soft; it could be used for minor swirls or scratches**
br>Overall, the pad is good; I've used it to apply paste wax, micro polish, and regular wax. The only drawback to this pad is that it takes FOREVER to dry after being washed.
On my other vehicles, I've used Griot's full-size pads a few times. br>Picked up a used Corvette that has a lot of sharper angles and fewer large, flat areas. br>I used the 3" pad, which was ideal for tight spaces. I am extremely pleased with the outcome. br>br>Will note that I had to reduce the buffer speed because this pad distorts more than the full size; this isn't a problem, just a necessary adjustment. Also, because they're smaller, there's less wax buildup than full-size models. br>Will see how well they hold up.
I should have known better because I had previously been disappointed with Griot's Garage products, despite the fact that they had good reviews and I needed some small pads for door jams and other tight spaces. The pads aren't any better, which is disappointing. It is not my level of experience because I have been detailing cars for a long time. My previous experience with Griot's Garage products was with their 5' Buffer and Pad set, which left a haze and hologram effect that took some time to correct. I had to return it because the pads sunk in the middle and began to separate from the velcro, in other words, they were garbage. Even with Pad Conditioner, the foam pads have very little cutting power and heat up quickly due to their dense flat surface. Griot's products will never be purchased again by me.
If the waxing pad could be used more than once, it would be ideal. Zaino wax is what I use for my eyebrows. I washed the car in warm water by hand, dried it, and waxed it again months later. I began waxing as usual when the pad abruptly flew off in the middle of the process. wax. I turned off the orbital as quickly as I could and kept it away from my paint. Fortunately, there are no scratches visible. The loop/hook backing was still on the orbital, and the red pad was several feet away on the floor, which I immediately recognized. I was orbiting at the slowest possible speed. I wasn't pushing myself at all; I'm a woman, and I was already exhausted by the time I got to the last panel of the truck to wax. Simply put, the product was poorly constructed. It shouldn't be too difficult to come up with a better way to connect the loop/hook and the pad. These items aren't marketed as one-time-use or disposable. I believe I should be able to use them for at least a full season if I take proper care of them. Except for the one that I had to throw away because it ripped off completely in the scenario above, I have two packs of three waxing pads each, and all but one are having the loop/hook backing pull away.
I've bought a dozen or so items from this company before, and I've always been pleased with the quality of her detail products. I'm happy with my purchase because the pads were simple to use but difficult to clean. Although the packaging includes instructions for cleaning them, I would consider them disposable.
I purchased the Griot's garage 6" random orbital polisher and buffing pads because they were also available locally if I needed more. I hadn't buffed or polished a car in a long time, and I was concerned about the swirls that older buffers and terry cloth covers could cause. However, after watching numerous videos on the internet, I was confident in using today's foam pads.
On my black Trailblazer SS, it worked like a charm. Griots Garage is a well-known and well-loved brand. This pad was purchased to be used with my orbital waxer.
