Questions & Answers

Which color pad should you use for cutting?

In two passes, I polish with orange. After that, a final aggressive polish is applied. Waxing is then done with red. I hope this information is useful to you.

Is this a genuine Griot's pad? Griot's has their logo on the backing and the center hole, which I've ordered directly from them before. ?

Yes, Griot's pads were ordered with the 3". They belonged to a previous generation. The hole in the middle is present on Griot's new boss pads. I prefer the larger pads because they are easier to align on the backing plate. But, aside from that, you'll get the same result; hopefully, this was helpful.

Is it possible to use this pad with the Torq 10fx?

yes. It's fairly universal as long as you use the same type of velcro pad that most polishers do.

What is the significance of the number 6 in the title? There is no 6 in the 5", but there is a 5" in the 5". Option number five?

I'm not sure why the pad is listed as 6" on Amazon. It's listed as a 6 in the description. 5". According to the Griot catalog, a 6" pad is not available. Their backer is 6" tall, which is appropriate for a 6. five pads, and five. For example, a 5" backer would receive a 5" reward, and so on. They make high-quality items.

The ability to correct is good, but it isn't very long-lasting
3/5

NOTE: GRIOT'S GARAGE REJECTED THIS REVIEW ON THEIR WEBSITE BASED ON THE FACT THAT IT DID NOT MEET THEIR WEBSITE GUIDELINES! br>On Amazon, I bought a set of three of these pads. These pads have left me with mixed feelings. I think the foam's density is excellent on its own. These were the three items I used. On my PC7424XP, I had to do it four times. The velcro backing on one of the pads detached and the foam disintegrated, while the velcro backing on the other two pads collapsed in the middle. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the pad's durability, but I gave it two stars because I liked the correction results. These pads don't compare to Lake Country CCS orange pads in terms of durability, but they're pretty close in terms of correcting ability. THIS IS THE LAST THING I WILL EVER BUY!.

The quality is poor
3/5

These pads are also of poor quality, as I can attest. They fall apart; granted, I'm still learning, so there was some vibration and buffer hop, which played a role. On the other hand, on the same car, two of the three had their Velcro separated from the foam backing. They're completely worthless. Sorry, but that is unforgivable. Yes, perhaps more caution should have been exercised the first time. I only got about 2 hours of buff time the second time before it started to separate. br>br>I'm going to look into other pads. They cut well, but I wasn't blown away. It's just a piece of foam at an absurd price.

The Griots have let us down once more
3/5

I should have known better because I had previously been disappointed with Griot's Garage products, despite the fact that they had good reviews and I needed some small pads for door jams and other tight spaces. The pads aren't any better, which is disappointing. It is not my level of experience because I have been detailing cars for a long time. My previous experience with Griot's Garage products was with their 5" Buffer and Pad set, which left a haze and hologram effect that took some time to correct. I ended up returning it because the machine began to work intermittently, the pads began to sink in the middle, and the velcro began to separate from the pads, in other words, it was garbage. Even with Pad Conditioner, the foam pads have very little cutting power and heat up quickly due to their dense flat surface. Griot's products will never be purchased again by me.

The design of the pad changed, and I found a better, less expensive pad
3/5

The quality of these pads, as well as their shape and design, have changed. The previous 3inch Griots pads were far more durable and didn't lose their shape unless they were overheated. After only one use, the new design transforms the pads into flying saucers. On the DA polisher, the pad's center flattens out, causing it to wobble or act strangely. Once the wobbling has occurred, the foam begins to tear on the side. I preferred the old design, so I figured, what the hell, let me try the cheap kit of 3inch pads available for a third of the price per pad. The pads are actually a lot better at correcting the same and keeping their shape after a lot of use. I'm kicking myself for buying these griots pads instead of the generic ones with four holes. On Amazon, I gave it five stars. The lesson of the day is that you can't just rely on other people's opinions when it comes to paint correction; you need to try out different products for yourself.

The pad is excellent, but it is far too soft
4/5

I needed these right away because I couldn't get my favorite Lake Country flat orange pads in time for a detail, so I ordered them with Prime shipping. These Griot's pads are extremely well made, and they appear to be durable enough to be used on multiple vehicles. The issue is that this pad is far too soft for an orange pad, resulting in significantly less cut. Even on softer Honda paint, I found myself wishing for a little more cut. These are a cross between a standard orange pad and a white polishing pad in terms of cut. These are excellent for minor touch-ups on softer paints. These aren't going to cut it if you're looking for a more powerful correction. On the plus side, this is one of the most durable pads I've used, so I'll probably be able to buff a few cars with it before it starts to fall apart. I'll probably use it for polishing jobs with M205 after compounding with something slightly more aggressive.

It works well to remove scratches; however, you should use softer pads afterward
5/5

I use these for light scratches all the time, and they work well and last a long time. Just make sure you follow up with softer grit pads and polish because these will leave swirls in the paint's shine, which isn't the pads' fault. Swirls will be left by any pad that removes scratches (even if the product packaging claims it won't). I then use yellow pads with the same grit buff compound, followed by a black pad with high-quality liquid wax, which results in a fantastic finish.

Good pad
5/5

I would purchase this item again. This pad was used in conjunction with 3M Marine Restorer. On a used boat I bought, I used wax (09006). The boat's upper hull was heavily oxidized, with orange lake water stains running down from the water line. I made use of a buffer that was powered by compressed air. With only medium to light pressure on the pad, I was pleasantly surprised at how well oxidation and stains were removed. I've beaten this pad to death and it's still going strong. My project included a variety of components. So, at the end of the day, I'd rinse the pad and spray it with water from the sprayer to help rinse it out. I folded it in half and twisted it before laying it out in the sun to dry. The main attraction Although the loop pad is peeling away from the edges, it is still very usable. I would recommend it and purchase it again.

Correcting Pads, 3" Orange (Not "Polishing")
5/5

The Griot's Garage 3" Orange Foam Correcting Pad is the correct name for this item. In the world of detailing, the term "polish" has a different technical meaning. ) Because Griot's uses orange for all of their correcting pads, I knew exactly what I was getting, but it might not be so obvious to everyone. (If you're looking for a true "polishing" pad in Griot's line, the yellow "Perfecting" pad might be worth a look. ) )br>br>In any case, this is an excellent 3" correcting pad. Although it fits perfectly on a 3" backing plate, the pad surface flares outward, so coverage is likely to be closer to 3. 25". To correct moderate swirls and defects on areas too small for a 5" or 6" pad, I use this pad in conjunction with Griot's fast correcting cream.
