Since purchasing this team, I've been working nonstop on a full-size car, and my time off is when I'm removing excess pulido product. It is a good team.

For over a week, I've been using this tool on a variety of vehicles. We've discovered that we actually enjoy using this tool and all of the accessories that come with it. The tool is much more streamlined than previous SPTA tools we've purchased. This tool has enough power and rpm for both beginners and professionals, but I can see why some customers might be disappointed that it lacks the RPM of its competitors; you should never have to use a tool at full max rpm to achieve the desired finish, especially with high-end products. This talk came with two brushes, two Alan books for the head, and an Allen key in the owner's manual, which is extremely useful if you ever need to perform maintenance on the tool. The polish and compound perform admirably, have a pleasant odor, and a long working time. Compared to some of the more expensive items we've used. We have been fans of these Orange and black buffing pads for awhile; they come in two sizes, a 5" backing plate size and a 6" backing plate size. The Orange pads give you plenty of caught but still finish down pretty well, especially with the working time that the polishing compound that comes with this kit has. The black pads are great for a Finnish wax or finish polish, especially on delicate skin, but you'll have to clean them all the time because they're so soft and weren't designed for high rpm or heat. The tool also comes with a zoo of different grit sandpaper in two different sizes, with 5" being the small size and 6" being the large size. These products are great for sanding down raw metal or wood, but I wouldn't recommend them for paints or anything else on a vehicle unless you're trying to repaint it. The buffing pad cleaning tool is one of our favorite accessories included in this kit. We have purchased these before and some of them have been very expensive, costing over $25 per tool. This tool is an amazing value and works extremely well, especially on the soft wax pad. This tool will be one of our most frequently used tools in the shop because a clean buffing pad means a better finish. Also included in the kit were microfiber towels, which I would describe as more of a glass cleaning tool, but they work very well for removing polish and compound from painted surfaces. They appear to be made of high-quality materials, and I have purchased these directly from SPTA in the past, and they worked great and lasted several wash cycles. When we first opened the package, we noticed that the bag that came with it to carry everything was of extremely high quality, even more so than some of the previous bags I had purchased from high-end companies. The apron that came with it was extremely thick and durable; additionally, unlike some of the other companies whose aprons are floppy and in the way, the Saipan is the perfect size; I am 5' 9" tall and it fits me perfectly. My overall conclusion about this cat is that you get a lot more value for your money than you pay for it. If it were just the tool, the bag, and the buffing pad cleaning tool, I could see paying this price, but they include a lot more accessories in this kit, and I believe that's where the value comes from. The tool works great, it's nice and smooth to use, the buffing pads are of high quality, but they work, and the polishing compound takes a little getting used to, especially if you're a beginner, but the Abran and the entire kit as a whole I'd probably consider purchasing another one for myself in the near future.
So, the first job I took on with it was an extended E350 van that had a lifetime of automatic wash scratches. As advertised, the Polisher has a long throw. I ran it for about 5 hours straight, cutting and polishing in two stages. There were no problems, and the heat buildup was not excessive. In use, there is nothing to be concerned about. I didn't use any of the included compounds, so I can't give them a rating. Pads are fine, but I'd recommend investing in a professional pad, which are relatively inexpensive. The polisher itself is excellent value for money. It isn't Rupees, but it is far superior to what the price suggests.
The kit's price point and overall value appeal to me. The polisher is comfortable to hold in your hand, and the fit and finish appear to be satisfactory. When I actually put it to the paint, I had a problem. When I applied any kind of pressure to it, the spinning action slowed to a halt. It was only because of the pressure of my hand resting on the top that it came to a halt. I'm not sure if it's a bad unit or if it's normal for this machine, but I had to finish the hood with my 3" maxshine.
I've been in the detailing business for over 15 years and have used a variety of polishers. I'm here to say that the results are determined by the skill of the person operating the machine; you don't need a $300 machine to correct paint. I've used this machine almost daily for months and it hasn't let me down. It is smooth and comfortable. I'd buy from them again in a heartbeat.
If the booklet was an entire informational book, I would give it 5 stars. The compound/polish that comes with it is complete garbage that is difficult to remove and does not do a good job. Other compounds/polishes that were recommended by others were used. My son was trying to figure out which rubbing compound to use because the pads that came with the machine were all different. It was a lucky guess to choose the roughest one.
We put our tools through the wringer running a high-end detailing facility that specializes in ceramic coatings. This polisher is our fourth SPTA tool to be used as a workhorse. While the tool isn't as refined as a RUPES (obviously) or as luxurious to the touch as a MaxShine or PBL, it still gets the job done. For the quality of the polisher, it is INCREDIBLY CHEAP. The smooth trigger and hand guards (lack of grip or texture) are its only drawbacks; however, for a hobbyist or enthusiast, this tool is a no-brainer; for professionals, this tool makes for a great daily use tool for bulking out vehicles.
There are no clear instructions on how to install the various heads and handles, or which pads to use. Black, yellow, and red were among the colors I received. Red and yellow seemed to be for cutting, and black seemed to be the softest, so I used that for polishing. There were also microfiber pads, which I hadn't tried yet. It took me about an hour, but I was able to significantly reduce the scratches on my car's quarter panel. At some point, I may have to cut through the clear coat with the sandpaper to remove them, but for now, cutting with the red and yellow and polishing with the black seemed to work. mostly.
This isn't a dual-action polisher at all. The backing plate should've told me something. This is a random orbit unit; a true dual action unit has a geared drive and a gear built into the backing plate that forces the pad to spin in two orbits; a true dual action backer plate cannot be held still. With that said, this is an excellent polisher, particularly for the price.
