Yes, a water hose should be used to clean it. It is never a good idea to spray cold water on a hot engine. Also, keep any open electrical connections and the alternator away from water.
Without a doubt! We smoke it and then rinse it.

For a truly sludgy, thick build- ups that can be found on the bellies of planes - This is a viable product, but, as with most natural oil-based products, it comes with its own set of caveats. based (in this case, citrus) products, there are a few rules to follow: 1) Do this work when the weather is warm - because it will be more effective than on a icy winter day; 2) Because you'll be working upside down, get a pair of rubber surgical or disposal gloves, as well as goggles. 3) DO NOT COMPLETE THE PROCESS PRIOR TO EATING. Any water can be used to treat or apply - squirt it on the surface at full strength - It WILL cling to you if you put it on backwards. 4) Let the product sit on the surface for 2 to 3 minutes to start emulsifying the gunk, but not long enough to dry; 5) Using a soft nylon brush (perhaps a round brush mounted on an electric drill), agitate and work in the product. 5) Wipe away the brown sludge with microfiber towels (HAVE LOTS OF THEM ON HAND) and DO NOT try to wash it away with water - It is impossible to succeed! 6) Repeat the process until all layers of gunk have been removed. To remove the last bits, you can always give it a final wash with regular airplane wash. In summary - It's effective, but it's not simple. Best of luck!.
I first used it on a Citabria that I had recently acquired. It had been a long time since the belly had been cleaned, and it took about half of the bottle to clean the entire belly. br>br>I discovered that it needs to be sprayed on, let sit for a few minutes, and then scrubbed off. A second pass was required for heavily greased areas. br>br>However, once the initial cleaning is complete, a quick wipe down after every flight or two is quick and easy, and can be accomplished with just a few squirts on a towel.
It effortlessly removes the oil smudge from my C172G's belly. Spray, wait a few moments, then wipe away. Easy!.
It's amazing that it works so well. Allow it to soak in for a few minutes to remove the soot and oil from the metal.
with self-assurance Works wonders on even the toughest stains, such as those caused by fuel!.
I've been attempting to remove some difficult-to-remove exhaust stains from the belly of a plane. I tried simple green (regular and aircraft) and a few other cleaners, but they didn't work very well. With very little effort, this stuff removed it.
For fabric aircraft, I would not recommend this product. I literally began removing the paint from my plane. The only reason I gave it more than one star is because it does a great job of removing oil, hydro, and gunk from metal.
I use it on my plane and I really like it.
